2. While we're at it
Lets give congratulations to the Eagles for advancing in the playoffs...

Wait a minute. . . :silly:

Actually in all honesty I'm a Dolphins fan, so even though I was neutral in the game. . . my heart did indeed flutter lol.

Just kidding on the Eagles knock by the way . . just had to get it in of course. My Dolphins didn't make it either. Here's hoping me and your Eagles kick ass next year.

9. Haha!
Yeah, oh well...injuries happen :) At leats now I can enjoy the playoffs and keep a few of my nails long ;)

I can't the god damned overrated Patriots and the way the media collectively rides Brady's man-goods. They got all their starters back healthy and got shut out. Hope their whiney-ass fans shut up now, too. Denver dominated the game and capitalized on the Pat's many mistakes and did great - they look quite good!

Keep your head up Dolphins fan! One never knows what next season will hold! :)

11. OH
I can't wait for next season.

And yah Eagles had their problems this year. T.O situation... Mcnabb not at one hundred percent and such. I'm glad to see you could take some good nature ribbing though. I don't mind the Eagles at all. Like I said, hopefully they kick ass next year. I think they can.

22. Me either!
Yeah, we had many problems this year, with injuries and the Terrell thing. But ribbing is part of football - you can't really be a fan of any team and not be able to handle it when your team sucks (and my boys sure did suck this year - it was pretty sad)! :)

I hope both our teams' seasons go better next year :toast:

Man, just listen to the Patsy fans boo-hoo-hooing and stomping their feet and blaming 60 other factors...what a bunch of whiney bitches.

I was cheering for Denver to win, but the Patriots lost that game all on their own, and when a team is in the playoffs, you can't make mistakes like they did and expect to win games. They got all their injured guys back, all their fans were "we're peaking at the right time, we're peaking at the right time!!" and they got ROCKED. And it was a thing of beauty

I hope this game gives them confidence going into Denver...that will be a good game. I wasn't impressed by Denver's offense (they only had to capitalize on the Patsies many, many mistakes), but they are a good team.

26. And that they did.......Colts looked pathetic against the Steelers.
Neither Dungy or Manning seem able to pull it off in the critical game.

But you still can't take away the Patriots' 3 Super Bowl Championships in 4 years.

7. If only Quentin Griffin were still with the team it would have been
perfect. :) Knowing you're from Oklahoma, I can say that for me, as a die-hard fan of both the Sooners and the Broncos, that's the only thing that would have been sweeter. :D

12. Shocking development; home teams win in 2nd round of playoffs
Gee, that's so unpredictable. Happens like, uh, every year. I wrote that here the other day and bet it that way today. Thanks for not catching that last pass, BTW, Santana Moss.

The NFL playoffs are designed to properly reward the top two seeds. New England this year was not among them. The wild card teams get overhyped since they just won in the spotlight while the superior rested teams are somewhat forgotten and downplayed. Unfolds every year, usually at least 3 of 4 home winners. You need a special, balanced, fundamentally sound team that typically plays great on the road to overcome the situational bias.

In many respects New England couldn't overcome the flaws they displayed all year. The rushing attempts this season were 5 less per game than last season and that played out today. On the road you need to impose physical superiority and shut the crowd up, not throw it all over the place.

BTW, that pass interference call was bullshit. That defensive back has improved incredibly since the middle of the season and I hated to see him get screwed that way.

13. but the media was oh so sure the Pats would win
belichek almost never loses a rematch in the same season, the Pats have won ten in a row in the playoffs, Brady's never lost in the post-season, Denver hasn't won a playoff game since Elway retired, the Patriots are healthy now, and they can stop the run ... and so on ...

The winning percentage for the home team in this round is pretty high, like you said. But as a Bronco fan, I enjoy this win as an "upset" of sorts :)

15. Actually, the refs sucked pretty much throughout that game....
...pretty sad crew for one that was allowed to call a playoff game. Never-the-less, I picked the Broncos to win, for many of the reasons you outlined. They're a great team, who had a week off. No surprise, really.

20. You're right, New England was not among the best.
They didn't make one mistake that cost them the game (or have one debatably 'bad' call that cost them the game), or even two or three mistakes. They made 8 or 9 mistakes that cost them the game (including 5 turnovers alone). That's just shitty playing and not indicative of a top caliber team.

Maybe now we can get a little perspective about the Patsies about dominating anything. Just like many of the top teams of previous years (like, unfortunately, the Eagles), their run is likely over at least for a few more seasons and probably more.

But, if if if if if if if if we win against Denver we will win the Super Bowl, right! If, if, if, if, if, if, if! If nothing, your entire team got your asses handed to you and it was such a joyous, joyous pleasure to watch!

LOL, it hurts, I know. Never making the varsity football team in high schoool can leave lasting scars on one's soul, can't it? :)

It feels so good! I couldn't believe how the prognosticators just couldn't bring themselves to call the game against the Pats.

Well, flying under the radar pays off, I suppose.

Anyway, on to the Conference Championship...

It's in the eyes....

Plummer reads the defense while he moves in the backfield against the Patriots.

It's all about the team....

Teammates congratulate Jon Lynch after an interception in the fourth quarter.

Now the media can stop slobbering over Tom Brady. He's human, like the rest of us. GO STEELERS!!!!

Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 12:53 PM by friesianrider
They just generally sucked. The receivers sucked, Brady sucked, and the defense sucked. It was truly a sight to behold.

I was cheering for Denver, but my #2 team to the Eagles is obviously the Steelers!
