The NFL has admitted that Polamalu should have gotten the interception
http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/abn3999167.htm

New York, NY (Sports Network) - National Football League vice president of officiating Mike Pereira on Monday issued a statement regarding the controversial reversal on Troy Polamalu's interception during Pittsburgh's 21-18 win over Indianapolis in Sunday's AFC divisional playoff game at the RCA Dome.

In the statement, Pereira stated the officiating crew made the wrong call.

"The definition of a catch -- or in this case an interception -- states that in the process of making a catch a player must maintain possession of the ball after he contacts the ground," said Pereira. "The initial call on the field was that Troy Polamalu intercepted the pass because he maintained possession of the ball after hitting the ground.

"The replay showed that Polamalu had rolled over and was rising to his feet when the ball came loose. He maintained possession long enough to establish a catch. Therefore, the replay review should have upheld the call on the field that it was a catch and fumble.

I don't know how they missed this call in the first place. I mean, they got it right on the field, and then OVERRULED it in replay. It's a good thing for the NFL that the Steelers won, I guess :)

1. What's good for CBS/FOX...is good for the NFL
(Shady, smoky, backroom)

Saturday afternoon....Plan A: Brady and the Pats are defending Champs and an automatic ratings booster for CBS. Manning and the Colts are an automatic ratings booster for CBS as well. Lets hope for an AFC Championship re-match in Indy.$$$$

Sunday morning......Plan B: Lets put all of our eggs in one basket and hope for a quick speedy victory for Manning and the Colts on Sunday. We have Ref's on stand by to keep it close if the Steelers happen to make a game of this. Is Phil Luckett's still on speed dial anyone?

Monday morning....... Plan C: Ok Lets pump up Coach Shanny and his return to glory without John Elway. Can we do a piece on Jake's rebirth in Denver since leaving Arizona? I don't think we'll need the Ref's just yet but keep in mind the thin air in Denver and how it effects visiting teams and the ball...

2. That "football type move" is a stupid rule
as is the having to hold onto the ball if you hit the ground IF that is part of the catching process (NOT if you catch it then fall down and drop the ball)

He clearly caught the ball. The officials came this close to completely changing the game result.
