1. I wish people wouldn't blame Vanderjagt |
|
He's not the one who went for the endzone twice on 2nd and 3rd down with 2 yards to go. Whether it's Tony Dungy's calls or Peyton Manning's audibles...Sure he shanked it, but a smarter play would have been to, at least on the third down, go for the two yards with James and then try and pick up some more room for a closer in kick.
As a Steelers fan I thank Dungy and Manning for that miss, not Vanderjagt.
Though he did choke. Big time.

2. The last line says it all. He choked, big time. |
|
And that is all that is necessary for the classic "football fan rage" to be provoked

5. To me it just shows general ignorance |
|
If they had returned Bettis' fumble for a touchdown and won the game I would have been screaming for hours. I wouldn't have blamed Bettis though. Sure he hadn't fumbled all season, but that kinda shit happens. It was a solid perfect hit helmet to ball by the linebacker, not any fault of Bettis'.
The thing about blaming the kicker is that it just seems so much easier, especially when the kick is within range, in a dome, no wind, home crowd, etc.
Yet honestly that kind of stuff happens, which is why when you get into field goal 'range' you try and get the best possible kick for your kicker. A 46 yarder is not a gimme, even in a dome. IF he had hit the upright and it had bounced away, would the blame still be on the kicker or would it be on Mannign for not just picking up those 2 yards on 2nd and 2 and then it being a 44 yarder or less, plus having 3 more plays to go for the endzone or get closer?
A whole bunch of shitty playcalling on the part of the Colts and Manning all game wound up with them being lucky enough to blame it on one kick by Vanderjagt.
If it came down to your kicker and he chokes, then its your fault it came down to him in some way.

3. LOVE the Q&As on this item, LOL! |
|
Q: Mike has won alot of games for the colts.Remember the one over 50 yards a couple years ago against Denver in a blizzard? Im sure you wont add this to your list of questions... A: Wow...You're right! Q: WOW...you are the talk of the internet and I JUST WANTED to leave to a message. I won't bid but this is a cool item.... A: Really?.... Thanks... enjoy.. Q: does the silver platter include the house beverage mike jagermeister, with a COA from the liquored up idiot kicker? A: ummm..no Q: I would add some relish with it. People would relish that ar ar ar A: Har Har Har Q: What will you do with the proceeds? Perhaps you can donate the money to a kicking school. A: Actually I plan to see the Rocketts and see some real kicking.
Q: Fantastic idea!! As a Colts fan here in Indy.... we would like to see ALL OF THE COLTS ON A SILVER PLATTER! Thanks for the laugh! A: No problem... Q: Did you all forget there was a TEAM on that field Sunday, not just MV? The TEAM lost the game not the kicker. If the rest of the team would have showed up to play MV wouldn't have been in the position to make that kick. Just my 2 cents :-) A: Yes, but this is just a joke to go into the off season with a little bit of a smile.... Q: They just had your item on our local evening news here in Indy and I can only tell you that your bids should increase!!!! I agree with the question....did he even try???? I THINK NOT!!! Thanks for a good laugh when all I wanna do is cry!! Kristi akwhatnots/INDIANAPOLIS A: OK That is way cool. Thanks Q: Do you have peyton's head too. At least Vanderjagt is more consistent. Don't forget who played bad for the first three qt's. A: It's too big, I would need a platter the size of a flat bed Q: I must say that is quite creative and humorous...poor guy is never gonna be able to live that one down. A: Thanks Q: Can you have our drunken kicker engraved on the platter? A: No, but if you swing it hard enough, you can get a nice facial impression if you stand close. Q: I feel your pain, man. Fortunately, his contract is up after this year, so hopefully the Colts will cut him and fast. I need a job starting in August - do you know where I can sign up??? A: Thank you, Doug Brien Q: How much for just the platter? What if I just want the photo by itself? Can you ship it to Alaska? What about insurance? Nevemind. A: Errrr, lets see....the same, take it off, yes,if you want, ok..... Q: Would it be possible for the picture to be of the back of his head? I would like to display it in my living room, but that face would most likely scare the heck out of my visitors. A: Great! Q: I wouldn't be interested in his head, but if you can get his nuts on a platter, count me in. A: Thats funny!!! Q: Is the platter made out of silver or any other metal? A: Nope, Just Silver colored Plastic

But maybe if the Colts had showed up the first three quarters and not roll over for the Steelers on every turn . . he wouldn't of been in that position to begin with.
I know, I know . . could'ves, should'ves, and would'ves etc etc.

To make a bizarre metaphor out of it, it's like Manning and the rest of the Colts had 59 minutes to try and throw a football through a swinging tire unsuccessfully so no prize at the carnival, then they give Vanderjagt one try at it and he misses and everyone watching blame him for not getting a prize.
How bout blaming the guys who did most of the failing throughout the day?

7. How about the fact they the Colts didn't deserve to win? |
|
If he had made the kick and the Colts had gone on to win, it would have been one of the biggest travesties in the history of football. I'm glad the "Stealers" lost and the real Steelers won.
