NBA suspends Knicks' Davis for 5 games
Forward entered Chicago stands, is sued by fan for more than $1 million

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10918557/

CHICAGO - New York Knicks forward Antonio Davis was suspended Thursday for five games for climbing into the stands to confront a man during a game in Chicago on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, that fan said he did nothing wrong and was attacked by Davis’ wife.

The altercation came in overtime Wednesday night of the Bulls’ 106-104 victory. Davis said he thought his wife was in danger and later released a statement saying the fan was drunk.

Wonder how this will play out--in any case, Davis was an idiot for releasing a statement saying the guy was intoxicated UNLESS he has absolute proof of it.

1. I think a fine would have been enough

3. intoxication
Davis did say, "...I later learned to be intoxicated." So he has an out in any slander suit--he wasn't necessarily asserting it as fact, just that that's what he was told.

Nice how the reporter tied this to Democrats. Crimony.

4. You need any more proof Stern is incompetent?
The man shouldn't have had a fine nor a suspension. Yet the drunken MoFo will be back in his seat the next game.

5. The fan didn't look drunk to me...
nor did it look like he was threatening Mrs. Davis. I think a suspension is warranted, especially since the league policy has been made clear to all of the players.

6. There's another thread about this--linking to a blog, and some comments
out of Chicago. Apparently Mrs. Davis is a real problem--let's hope she gets booted from future games.

7. If I were her husband, I would tell her to stay away.
A five game suspension for a starting NBA player is a big chunk of change, far too much to indulge her in a hissy fit at a fan.

8. Yeah...and if the guy sues and succeeds, then he's really
lost a lot from this.
