LeBron's mom charged with drunken driving

AKRON, Ohio - LeBron James’ mother was arrested for driving while intoxicated, disorderly conduct and other charges.

Gloria James was pulled over Friday night by two off-duty officers, who were working security for the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, said Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards.

“I don’t have all the info of what’s going on,” LeBron James said Saturday night before the Cleveland Cavaliers played the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. “Once I find that out and once I sit down with my family, you know, I’ll be able to comment on it a little bit better.”

it's not really sports, it is? although I bet there's an interesting story, how badly do you have to be driving to get nabbed by off duty rent a cops?

2. Thought it was curious that relatives of players seem to be

in the news these days...including Davis' wife.

at that time of the night...

4. Is he from there? Cleveland, that is. Is that where he grew up?

If so, why hasn't he moved his mother out of there?

and he is from there, I'm sure he's moved his mother out of the projects, if they ever lived there (which I don't know) at least I hope he has. there's no way someone who's son makes 15 million a year should be living in subsidized housing.

...that doesn't surprise me that she was there. LeBron sounded like he handled it well, saying he couldn't comment until he knew more, but reading between the lines it sounds as if he knows his mother has a drinking problem. That wouldn't surprise me, either--it's very, very common in this country.
