Pittsburgh had to beat three amazing teams, on the road, to get to the big show. Cinncinati, Indianapolis, and Denver. All were conisdered the favorites. Ben Rothlisberger is playing nearly mistake free football, his mind is in the right place and his QB rating is sky high. Their sixth seed was thanks to injuries mid-season, and not a good indicator of their true strength. They're a better team than the one last year that went 15-1.
Seattle had a good year, but during the season, aside from a win against an Indy team that wasn't trying anymore and played Sorgi as QBmost of the game, they had two wins against teams with a winning record, Dallas and the Giants. Both by a field goal. The Giants game won in overtime, against a Giants team who had something against winning that game.
The NFC this year was far overrated as a whole, and the AFC is just far stronger with stronger competition.
I'm glad Seattle got there, they deserved it, their fans deserved it, and their city deserved it. Pittsburgh though is going to get ahold of the game in the first half though and not let go. It might seem close in certain parts of the 3rd and 4th quarter, but it really won't be.
Pittsburgh by 10 points, which will make the game seem closer than it was.

3. It appears the AFC was overrated, too. |

You've come down with 'True Believer-itis'.
I never listen to the talking heads. If they get something right, it's by chance. I look at the numbers. I look at the games. I look at the players. I make my own judgements.
This was the superbowl I predicted from the start (with the only wrong pick being I saw New England over Denver, and the STeelers beating New England in the AFC Championship). Other than that I'm perfect.
Steelers will win on both sides of the ball. Alexander will be held to under 100 yards. Hasselbeck will be harrassed and hurried and interecepted. They won't be able to adjust to the Steelers D and Dick Lebeau. The Steelers offense has just taken down the highest ranked run defenses in the league.
Caw all you like, but yer gonna splatter onto that steel curtain in an explosion of feathers. ;)

Spot any team 2 games each against St. Louis, San Francisco, and Arizona this year and you're giving any decent offense 6 games to really bolster their stats. Then they played the AFC south, the worst division in the AFC...Lost to the Jaguars and beat Houston and Tennesee, both really bad teams, and then beat the Colts, but only after the Colts put their third stringers on the field.
Sure they routed Carolina, and looked good doing it, but not so much as proving how inconsistent the Panthers were all year.
Steelers will win, bank on that.

6. Re: Seahawks game vs. the Colts.. |

You seem to forget that Indy started their "A" team in that game, and while they were in, Seattle opened a 14 point lead on them as well..

7. Nope, just don't count it. |
|
Just like I dont' count the Seahawks losing to the Packers as anything meaningful. A couple of drives by an offense not taking any risks, and a defense already relaxed..the number one rule for them going into that game was to not get injured. You can't play football that way whether it's said or unsaid.
As soon as Indy lost to the Chargers none of their games counted in any capacity for or against them or any team they faced.

12. Sorry, 'Hawks...you beat a very flat Panther team...congrats anyway |
|
Carolina played up n' down all year, and you caught them on a downswing. You played well, but you'll have to play out of your mind to beat the solid Steelers. Congrats on your title, in any case. You've had it coming for a long, long time.

I do think that Seattle IS going to win this game. I can't believe all the talking heads and everyone I know is saying that Pitt is going to win the Super Bowl. I'm stating right now, it's Saturday, January 27th and it 10:40pm at night, and I say the Seahawks are going to win SB extra large. The score will be...... Seattle 28 and Pittsburgh 21. There ya have it folks.   :applause: :applause:

29. Well, I'm a diehard Steeler fan from the 70's, so I'm rootin' for |
|
'dem Steelers! However, I salute the Seahawks for their win of the Championship. I also know what it feels like to have a first real win in many many years! Good for you!!!!
I know my prediction would be biased, so I'm not going to make one.
I also think it will be the best Superbowl game in many years!

Seattle because their QB went to Boston College.
And because they've never won it before.
