Kobe 81
Last night Kobe Bryant scored 81 points in the game. At this time I think anyone who doubted the greatness of Kobe needs to stop doubting. In my opinion Kobe during this season has proven that he is at least the next Michael Jordan and maybe even more than the next Jordan. He has done things this season that Jordan never did.

1. Lots of Kobe-hating going on this morning....
...calling it ball-hogging, etc. Ah, get over it, the guy was on fire, let him shoot!

2. If Shaq took 50 shots a game
He'd get 80 points too.

Hell, any player to takes over 40 shots a game should end up with 50 points, minimum.

8. Wrong
He was hitting 2/3 of his shots nearly, and if I'm that on fire as a jump shooter, I would surely keep on attempting to score.

9. Also if Shaq had the ball that often...
he'd foul out for having too many offensive fouls =P

3. I still prefer the Pistons 33-5 record
Far greater achievement in my opinion. :-)

7. Not really
Call me back when they reach 60 wins and less than 10 losses and then I'll be mightily impressed :)

4. he's an offensive machine
remember that Jordan, for all his other faults, also made the All--defensive team. At this point in his career, Jordan had learned that he needed a supporting crew to win in the playoffs, and that scoring 35+ points a game was not helping the team.

in the immortal words of Keith van Horn, who helped the Mavs give up 62 against Kobe last month: "How many assists? He didn't have any against us."

imagine, a guard without any assists. in case you're wondering, he has two last night.

6. ummmmm
Don't you realize that Kobe is also one of the premier defenders of the league? He is often voted as either 1st or 2nd team for the NBA's all defensive team.

He didn't pass the ball that often sure, but would you when your teammates don't hit shots? Kobe CAN play a team game, and does pass the ball when his teammates are hitting their shots

BTW, about that Mavs game, same thing, he had 62 in 3 quarters, and he took so many shots only for the fact his teammates were not hitting their shots.

10. interesting question
if you take as many shots as your teammates combined, including 2/3rds of the shots in the second half, how can you say they aren't hitting their shots? The Lakers took 88 shots in the game, Kobe took 46 of them. so how does anyone else make shots? Chris Mimm, by the way was 5-8, so someone else could shoot.

The one thing that strikes me more than anything else is that there were a total of 18 assists in the game. Kobe had 2 of them, so the rest of the team had 16 assists. And Kobe had two offensive rebounds. So no one passed him the ball either. That's not a team, it's a one man wrecking crew.

12. keith van who?!
thought so. Kobe is the off guard. It's Smush's job to distro the ball.
