Steelers choose white jerseys for Super Bowl
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06024/643545.stm

The Steelers may be the "home" team for the Super Bowl but they will wear their road white jerseys when they play the Seattle Seahawks.

They had first choice and they picked white because that is what they've worn the past three playoff games, all on the road.

Coach Bill Cowher said they chose their road uniforms because "we aren't playing at Heinz Field.'' In his mind, he said, it's a road game.

Also, as the home team Cowher chose to have his team conduct all the morning interviews, which will free them up to pursue a more normal day with practice in the afternoon.

I think this year this is a good omen. Normally I'd prefer the black jerseys but I think Cowher is on to something this year. Keep the road streak alive! GO STEELERS!

1. Agree with you: Love the black, but keep the road streak alive.

5. Two schools of thought...
1) Underdog Mojo is working with white visiting team colors + maybe Ben has gotten used to spotting his receivers faster/easier in away-whites?

2) Black jersey is more traditional Steelers image + wearing black keeps those hideous green-turd seahawks jerseys off the screen.

In the end - players make the plays not the laundry.

7. In a battle of the laundry I predict a
0-0 tie through regulation. Pittsburgh wins in quintuple overtime when a squirrel, living on the beard grease on the collar of jersey #7, carries the ball over the goal line. The subsequent extra point try falls way, way short.

PIT 6
SEA 0
(5 OT)

11. That is just silly.
They don't kick the extra points in overtime.

14. I know.
(And I knew that, and knew it would be pointed out, but I loved the image of a PAT-kicking squirrel too much)

The rest of it is as serious as a heart attack, though.

6. I'd prefer the blacks but eh....it makes no difference
If they want to wear white, let em wear white. They look better in black, but it doesn't matter to me. Heck Seattle finished with a better record right? They should be able to wear their home colors.

Anyone who actually thinks that the jersey color makes a real difference needs to have their head examined.

10. So we get to see the Seattle "Blue Men Group" in all its glory
That's what "Tuesday Morning Quarterback" Gregg Easterbrook, now at nfl.com, calls 'em.

http://www.nfl.com/writers/easterbrook

As for the AFC team, they're the "Hypocycloids" (that's the name of those three shapes that make up much of the Steelers' logo).

15. The white will make Seattle's unis look like a Canadian or World Ftbl team
Seattle's uniforms just don't look 'NFL' to me.
