Red Sox preparing big offer for Clemens
Video from pleading fans reportedly included in package

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11229577/

--------------------------------------

The Boston Red Sox are pulling out all the stops to try to convince Roger Clemens to return to the city where his career started.

According to a report in the Boston Herald, the Red Sox are preparing a serious offer to present to Clemens. Included in the offer, according to the Herald, is a DVD video featuring fans pleading for him to sign with the Red Sox.

Clemens has been a free agent since the Astros decided not to offer him arbitration. He cannot re-sign with the Astros until May 1.

1. Stupid
I really think this is stupid. I do not think Clemens will be able do a good job this coming season. I think Houston finally got smart this year by not being willing to play Clemens' game. I really think the Astros could have won the World Series this year if they had not waited so long to sign Clemens and pay him so much. I think the Astros could have signed Carlos Beltran with that money and maybe signed another younger pitcher. I think everyone should remember that Clemens had the leave the World Series in the 1st inning due to leg problems. Also, earlier in the year he had back problems. I just think it is a bad idea and a bad investment for Boston to try to sign Clemens. I do not think he will be good this year.
