I find it very amusing when people can go on and on over conspiracy theories with local, state and national election-rigging and get cheered on and backed up. But mention that a football game might not have been on the level and you're getting reservations placed for you at the loony bin.
Just amusing.

Granted elections aren't on the same level as sports contests (nor should they be) but I wonder what would happen if someone said "Get over yourself, it's only an election?"
Wrong is wrong. If bad officiating affects the outcome of an important game, it should be investigated and addressed.

2. You are so right - the Patriots were truly robbed in Denver |

SH <--- ducks and runs for cover, locks self securely in steel-reinforced locker
(actually the Pats played shitty and gave it away, but the refs were no help)

a critique of game officiating is based on instant replays from about a half dozen angles which can be seen and reviewed in slow motion on large screen TVs.
I think the Steelers should change their name to the Zebras in honor of their Super Bowl MVP's.
I christen this last Super Bowl "Victory," ONE FOR THE DUMB!

5. What's Amusing to Me Is How Republican Some Posters, err, "Sound" |
|
"Get over it! You lost! Sore loser! Don't talk about it, don't try to draw attention to the problems, just get over it and accept it, you lost!"
Sound familiar? If I didn't know any better, I'd question whether or not some people belong on this site. If I didn't know any better... ;-)

The thought that such a thing could NEVER EVER happen in the NFL is absolutely ludicrous.

8. Especially with what is coming to light with the NHL Gambling scandal |
|
I forget where I read it, but years ago I read an expose about the rampant gambling amongst referees and officials in all the pro and collegiate level sports...

9. That's not a gambling scandal |

It's a handful of people making moderate sized bets with their own private designated bookmaker instead of an offshore sportsbook. The numbers they are quoting are laughable. A million dollars. Maybe 1.7 million. Wow! If that were one person on one day it might be notable, but many people over the course of six weeks is trivia. You wouldn't even be noticed in a major offshore sportsbook if you bet that amount by yourself.
Sports are out in the open. That's why it's on the up and up. You see these guys every day or week and know their capabilities. Conspiracies occur in back rooms with no witnesses or slow motion cameras.
The comparison to voting machinery is absurd. If we had a camera on every Diebold machine and every precinct that enabled us to see who attempted to vote for whom, and who actually received the vote, then the comparison is legit.
I'll be content to dismiss voting conspiracies and sports conspiracies as 100% bunk with the knowledge I won't be wrong more than a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent, if that.
