***SPOILER ALERT*** Men's Alpine Combined
Ski fast, Bode. He did. Bode posts the fastest time in the downhill portion of the Men's Combined by 3/10 of a second. Now if only he can hold on during the Slalom portion later today. When he's good on the Slalom course, he's very, very good. When he's bad, he's DNF. Go, Bode, go.

**And congrats to Vermont's own Hannah Teter, gold medalist in the women's half pipe.

1. Go, Bode!!!
Maine has a partial claim on Bode as he studied (?) and trained at Carrabassett Valley Academy at Sugarloaf. I hope he pulls this one off.

2. BIG SPOILER
Miller out after straddling slalom gate

SESTRIERE, Italy (Reuters) -- Bode Miller was disqualified from the Olympic Alpine skiing combined event on Tuesday after straddling a gate in the first leg of the slalom.

The leaderboard initially showed the American overall World Cup champion nearly a second ahead of Austrian world champion Benjamin Raich after the first leg, but television replays showed he had straddled the 42nd gate and he was disqualified.

Miller, silver medalist at the last Olympics, was leading going into the slalom after setting the fastest time in the downhill leg earlier on Tuesday.

6. I am heartbroken for Bode. He's taken so much sh*t from the MSM.
I think his heart is good. He just doesn't play their game. And so he pays. Three more chances though. I will be pulling so hard for him.

7. well, he's a bit much, don't you think?
I mean, not walking with the team at the opening ceremonies (he walked five feet behind, alone) not staying in the Village? etc? when you do that and win, you are a rebel, when you do it and lose, you are an outcast.

and don't feel too bad for him, he parleyed all that media attention into high seven figure endorsement deals.

good for Ligaty, his reaction, and that of his teammates, was spectacular.

8. I have to disagree
Bode Miller seems to be a professional rebel in the same mold as Eddie Vedder.... "I hate the media and their game... hey put me on TV as much as possible!"

Maybe he's really a nice guy, but he comes off as a huge fake. I actually went to highschool with his teammate, Scott McCartney. Maybe I can ask him at the reunion :-)
