Hideki Matsui donates 50 million yen to the Tsunami Relief Fund..
which is a tad under $500,000. He's already given the check to his local International Red Cross. Only 23 Japanese citizens are known to have died in the disaster.

Now I know this board is filled with Yankee-haters, but Matsui is a classy guy.(The Yankees have also pledged $1 million of the money they saved by not signing Beltran lol.) I hope a few more of the overpaid
players in all sports follow his example.

2. How could he do such a thing?
Was he trying to make WeeCowboy's $10K donation look... paltry?

3. Hideki Rocks!
Please don't confuse Steinbrenner haters with Yankee haters. There is a difference.

4. As a diehard Red Sox fan, let me say-
way to go Hideki! A great ballplayer and a humanitarian. I'm impressed...

5. As a general rule, I hate the Yankees and everyone associated...
with them, but in this case, I have to tip my cap to Matsui.
It IS a classy thing to do---maybe a few other overpriced athletes will be shamed into following suit.

6. Classy move; many NBA players have stepped up as well
Several players, including Jermaine O'neal and Kobe, pledged $1000 per point in their last game. Their agent said he would match the highest pledge, and some owners are doing the same. For all the bad press these guys get (admittedly much of it deserved), this is a very classy thing to do.
