What the hell is it with the Mets and closers
Let's go down memory lane - today's pathetic choke job by Billy Wagner. 4th blown save already. Before him...

Braden Looper - set the tone for last year by blowing the first game of the year. Good riddance. Before him...

Armando Beniotez - Meaningless games, the best. Games with relevance, the worst. Before him...

Franco - Pitched about three years too long, and the Mets paid dearly. Before him...

Well I don't remember. Jesse Orosco was good enough to take help them win. In my youth, Tug McGraw was the man, probably because of the 1973 "you gotta believe" season.

But damn, can we not get someone who can finish a game? Wagner, I guarantee you, will be a $10,000,000 bust.

A chance to win a subway series, pissed away. I'm so heartbroken.

1. Wagner is dead to me right now...
I'm beginning to see why the Philly turned on him so quickly...that game was UGLY!!! I feel so bad for Pedro, what a game he pitched. If we don't win tonight, I think I'm gonna be physically ill

2. If it weren't for the fact that Minaya made the decisin

I, too would give up on Wagner. When Minaya gives up on him, I will. When Minaya gives up on him, he will have a plan B. Right now Sanchez or Heilman should be in the closer role. Wagner should be in the hold role. There's too much we have going for us right now.

Perdo should have 3 additional wins basd on the blown games after he departs. 9-0, that's what Pedro deserves. I hope he doesn't give up on the Mets.

3. it seems like every time Wagner has an implosion...
it was Pedro starting the game. Oy! Looks like they are gonna bring Wagner in tonight again the way things are shaping up. I'm holding my breath.

Tell you what that Aaron Heilman is money this year...I hope they don't move him out of the pen because it looks as if he found his role with this team

4. Bannister needs to get well
He was pitching great abd if we get a fourth starter back it will ease the pressure. Lime better not get another start.

OK, need to get through this ninth. Fingers and toes crossed.

7. We pulled it out...
it was dicey but I'll take it. Now they need to take the day off tomorrow, clear their heads and sweep the Phils when they come into Shea

8. It was good they put Wagner in...and he won! We won!
Saturday's game nearly killed my mother and me. Honest, it did.

And I feel for Pedro.

Last night's was truly a Great, Patriotic Victory!

10. Wagner's one of the best
there is. (However, you could probably have Armando back for a pittance.) Some teams have NEVER have a closer as good as Wagner. He's also great in the clubhouse. Tells the brutal truth like Charles Barkley as well. See, Uncle Drayton shipped him off when Wags back-talked him, and the Astros, with more religious zealots than any other major-league franchise, don't like that.

Wags will be fine. Willie needs to put Aaron Heilman in the rotation.

11. Chuckle, my roommate is convinced that he wants to emulate Franco
Ya know, the 1 out, let's walk the bases loaded just to set up the double play strategy that Johnny brought to the game.
