Australia 2 Croatia 2 - and a Croation player gets THREE yellow cards

Australia goes through to the round of 16 by drawing 2-2 with Croatia in what can only be described as a bizarre match. Croat defender Josip Siminic got a second yellow card, and the referee didn't realize it, so forgot to show the red card and send him off!

2 minutes later Siminic committed another foul, and got a THIRD yellow card - this time the ref remembered to show him the red.

Italy beckons...and to think the US coach (Bruce Arena) said before the tournament that Australia was only at the World Cup to make up the numbers...

Are you confusing Josip Simunic with Dario Simic? Simic got a yellow at 32 minutes and another at 85 minutes .. and was also red-carded on the second yellow.

Of all the refs it had to be it had to be Graham Poll. Let's just say that he's something of an attention seeker, as fans of English football will no doubt be aware. Ah well, hopefully we can find a decent ref to replace him at that level.
