1. Yeah, both teams are struggling with their barn-broadside-hitting |
|
right now. I gotta say, tho - you guys have Hodge healthy. If you can't take out a Duke team missing a productive starter (Randolph) and the most productive replacement available for him (Love), then something's way wrong over in R-town. Which is not necessarily a good thing, except for tonight. Blue Devils first, Pack second in my ACC preferences. It's a little bit easier to root against yer guys tonight since Marcus Melvin's no longer with 'em. He was one of the good ones.

2. Randolph is productive? |
|
Seriously, I think that is the first time I've heard someone say that - Duke fans included. He's a major bust in my (and many others I talk to) book.
Losing Love sucks, because he is a quality big guy to take up space and plays hard.
Shavlik just seems lost on the floor to me...

I won't be an apologist for him, 'cuz he's had some sucky PT, for sure. But he's never had a season at Duke without injury, and now with the fuggin' mono... I hope he comes back quick, and has more good moments than bad this season.
Reggie Love is my hands-down pick for goon of the year at duke. I always have my goon of the year. Last year it was Nick Horvath. Before that it was Casey Sanders. You know what I'm talkin' about, right? The guys coach K puts in when he just needs someone on the other team given a proper gooning? In the first game I went to this season - Mich. State. - Reggie played under 4 minutes and fouled out. THAT'S some fuggin' QUALITY GOONING!
And I hope like hell the Packers opt to retain him after training camp next year. I'd hate to see his sports career over, and he ain't goin' NBA...

Duke plays State tonight.
I like your nickname for them. I'm going to start using it everywhere.

Sorry my wolfpack fans...
I'm always in a tough spot when state and duke meet as I am an alumna of both schools, although i've always loved my blue devils...
by the way, can anyone explain why most of the upper seats were empty?
ok, here's what i think went wrong for state: they started too well in the first half, playing with emotion and intelligence, really exploiting duke's weaknesses; then, toward the end of the first half and most of the second half, it was like state had lost confidence or it ran out of gas.
i'm also very disappointed in julius hodge's slapping daniel ewing with the ball, for which julius only got a personal foul... julius should know better.
as for duke, i think they have been in situations like those more often than state and, let's face it, they played with much more heart than state did.
as for shav, considering all the injuries and diseases he's been affected by, it's a miracle he even plays at all... he has been a bit of a letdown but who knows what would he be like without all the injuries?
i can't wait for the eunice/wake forest game saturday... i still think that wake may be slightly overrated, though.. I like "eunice" as a nickname... I'll keep it secret, as my hubby is a big eunice fan (you can imagine the "joy" at our house on eunice/duke game days - in fact, we watch the game in separate rooms, or we'd kill each other)
