Larf...Vikings demand Joe Buck be removed from booth

for 'Moss bias.'

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Fox Sports turned down Minnesota Vikings owner Red McCombs' request to remove play-by-play announcer Joe Buck from Sunday's divisional playoff game at Philadelphia over his sharp criticism of wide receiver Randy Moss.

After Moss caught a touchdown pass in last weekend's win at Green Bay, the wide receiver celebrated in the end zone by pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Packers fans before briefly wiggling his back side against the goalpost. Buck immediately called it a "disgusting act."

McCombs said that statement was out of line. A two-sentence news release issued by the team said McCombs felt Buck's comments "suggested a prejudice that surpassed objective reporting."

Dan Bell, a Fox spokesman, said the network has "no intention whatsoever" of removing Buck.

"We hope Mr. McCombs enjoys Joe's play-by-play call Sunday, because he'll be in the booth," Bell said.

10. Amen to that
I think it is funny that Red McCombs wants Blowhard Buck not to broadcast the game on Sunday! I hate Red McCombs but I agree with him on this thing only!

5. Mfg'ed controversy will probably get a few more people to watch
the game. I stopped at one of my haunts (old fart bar) and this was the toipic of discussion -- along with the big unit's antics. I tried to change the discussion to SS, but failed -- no interest.

6. I would simply hope that
should he be in the booth - which is likely - he does NOT apologize as those in the studio did for their knee-jerk comments in the admittedly much worse fiasco (crime?) involving Artest.
Either stay away or stay on topic - the game. I don't need social commentary from jocks. And, I don't like Buck.

...O...

7. I gained a lot of respect for Troy Aikman during that game.
As Joe Buck is convulsing from having his Victorian-era sensibilities offended, Troy immediately takes control of the dialog and says, "Let's look at the play."

You want to stop Randy Moss' antics? If you're the opposing team, shut him down. If you're an announcer, let them go without any commentary whatsoever. He wants attention, and YOU'RE giving it to him.
