Kobe Bryant severely injured
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1966588

Lakers star Kobe Bryant sustained what the team called a severely sprained right ankle midway through the first quarter of Thursday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and had to be helped off the court.

X-rays were negative, but Bryant will have an MRI on Friday, team spokesman John Black said.

Rumour out of LA is that he tore some ligaments.

From the Really Classy Guy department: Lebron James went over to the Lakers' locker room at half time to check on Kobe.

The Lakers went on to win the game, but if he's out for a while, things look bad. They're in a tight playoff race, too. Bad luck, Lakerfans, my condolences.

2. lebron james is pure class..
I caught the replay of Kobe rolling his ankle; not good. But I'll be honest with ya, laz. I haven't sat down and watched a Laker game all the way through once this season. They are terrible, and I have come to despise Bryant.

I must say that your Spurs are looking good this season though.

9. He is class
Lebron is going to be the salvation of the league, I think. And I've been impressed with this year's rookie class.

thanks for the kind word on the Spurs. I felt horrible when Utah beat us, but then the Jazz beat the Suns the next night! Go figure.

11. I agree about James. He's really handled the publicity well.
It's nice to see a great athlete who doesn't think he's the greatest human being ever.

5. Ouch
I'm gonna got out on a limb here, and say that I wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers play better basketball without him.

7. A sprain and torn ligaments are one and the same injury
This sounds like a Grade 2 sprain.

http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/cybertherapist/front/ankle/anklesprain.htm

Either way, a Grade 2 sprain is a nasty injury, having had one myself. He runs the risk of reoccurance, or an injury to the high ankle if he comes back too soon, and he's bound to be out for a while.

8. thanks, AWW
I didn't know that about sprain = torn ligmanets.

I have heard that a "high ankle sprain" is a very bad one to recover from.

13. week to week
He says he'll be back in a week, but I doubt it. It was bad enough to go ahead and stick him on the IRL.
