Let me say right now, win or lose I'm proud of my Tigers! |
|
I have been one of the faithful for years, as my friends and family will attest, and have stuck with them through the leanest years, even paying for the MLB baseball package (and suffering, at times, with other teams' announcers) during the 119-loss season, and seeing them in person as often as I could when they came to Seattle.
I can't believe they are even in the World Series! Even getting in the playoffs was an accomplishment for those guys, much as some here (yes, Yankees' fans, you) tried to disparage it. They are a likeable, gutsy group of players with a manager for the ages, and I am proud to number myself among their fans.
GO TIGERS!!!!!

for them to be there is good enough, for this year anyhow. I think we are seeing some of the inexperience coming to the fore. Zumaya throwing to third base as an example. They seem a bit rattled. But still, the first time in 22 years! I love it!!!!!!!! :toast:

5. Yes, that was a bad play |
|
but I think the announcers mis-called it. They kept saying he was trying to get a 1-5-3 double play, and made much of the fact that it hadn't been done in decades in a World Series. However, I don't think Zumaya was thinking about a DP. I think he was just trying to get the lead runner, and, IMO, Inge should have been there. It wasn't a terrible throw. I think Inge's lack of experience at that position shows sometimes too.

In fact, I think they have a very good chance at winning the whole series. I'm proud of my team too. I had no idea they'd make it this far, but they did.
One of these days, Lisa, we're going to both be cheering for the same team. (In fact, had the Tigers been playing anyone else, I'd be cheering for the Tigers.) If the Tigers do win, I'll be upset, but happy for their real fans.

We can both cheer for Michigan to beat Ohio State.
Also, I believe we are "cheering for the same team" on November 7th!!!!

I have no dog in the UM/OSU hunt. I wouldn't cry if OSU lost and vice versa.

15. What? OSU, the school that invites Bush to their commencements |
|
vs. Michigan, the school of affirmative action? LOL.
Never forget this, either. At Michigan, Tom Hayden was made editor of the Michigan Daily. At OSU, they thought Phil Ochs was too political, and would not give him the editorship of the Lantern, though he had been their best writer for years. That, my friend, illustrates the difference between Michigan and Ohio State. Phil Ochs left school without graduating, by the way, because of that.

16. I'm a fan of leaving politics out of sports. |
|
I graduated from fucking Texas A&M, I should mail back my diploma if it comes to politics. No one school, city, state or country is ideologically pure and there is good to celebrate is everything. Even the University of Texas (I mean, I'm sure there's SOMETHING good going on there).

I'm so tired of being stomped on, derided, and ridiculed because I live in a red state, even though you and I live in the bluest part of this red state, probably bluer than many parts of a blue state! My teams, my schools, my city, my state, are constantly put down even though folks like you and me are doing all we can to bring about change.
By the way, I am soon to have an Aggie son-in-law. He cheers for the Longhorns and we cheer for the Aggies, except when we're playing each other. ;) Gig 'em, Aggies, and Hook em, Horns!

Of course we have to beat Baylor, but I'd like to see us play for the Big 12 South on the Friday after Thanksgiving. :grouphug:

I love New York, and my grandmother was born there. But I couldn't bring myself to root for the Yankees, so two years ago, I declared myself a Mets fan.

It just grinds me to see all those happy red-staters cheering away. GRRRRRR. Don't forget '68! I don't anticipate such a wonderful comeback, but it sure would be sweet. Go Detroit!
