Iverson traded to Nuggets (report)
76ers Trade Allen Iverson to Nuggets

By Dan Gelston
Associated Press
Tuesday, December 19, 2006; 4:10 PM

PHILADELPHIA -- Allen Iverson was traded by the 76ers to the Denver Nuggets, a person in the NBA with knowledge of the deal told the Associated Press.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the deal was not announced, did not know the terms of the deal. It didn't take a genius to see this latest installment of "Days of Our Iverson" coming. The Philadelphia 76ers didn't or wouldn't trade problem child Allen Iverson in the offseason. Now they're paying for it, in more ways than one.

ESPN.com said the trade would send Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two 2007 first-round picks to the 76ers for Iverson and perhaps another minimum-salaried player or two.

9. Me too. He's a Norfolk home boy. So, he's my guy. He can be a jerk, BUT...
he doesn't make the same mistakes twice. He's got a learning curve.

I think he'll be greatly relieved not to have to be The Man ALL of the time. I'm actually kind of excited by this trade.

Check out Michael Wilbon's column on AI in Wednesday's WP.

Now, if only Yao would get traded to the Celtics

2. Farewell, A.I.
Despite the problems he's had over the years, I think he really loved the city and was really dedicated to playing the best basketball he could. Even when he requested a trade, he made it clear that he thought it would be the best thing for everyone, and he's probably right. Best of luck to him in Denver.

3. If he was that dedicated he would practice and be a team guy.
He's a poor teammate, regardless of his lion's heart.

5. Observing his antics for 10 years.
He's a great player but he's selfish with the ball, doesn't play defense and doesn't practice. A star player makes the whole team better and he doesn't do that.

6. he was the only player on his team, like Jordan before Pippen, et al...
on the national team with stars all around, he dished the ball and was praised as a great team player.

7. Well if you are a Nuggets fan you'll find out what I mean.
Guys on the national team played with him for two weeks. I've seen him covered for 11 years. Don't get me wrong, I love A.I., that dude is tough as nails and has a ton of heart on the court. But at the same time he's a coach killer and a bad teammate off of it. He doesn't elevate the play of his teammates. The difference between guys like him and guys like Jordon is practicing as seriously as you played the games, always trying to get better even if you are the best. Iverson is immature and undisciplined. How are his teammates ever going to improve, develop chemistry and be of some use to him if he doesn't practice with them? He's great but he could have been top 5 ever great.

8. same knocks on Jordan before he got a great player and...
added some really good ones. He didn't make Pippen better, Pippen completed the picture to win championships. Iverson has never had a player of near his caliber on his team. He has been forced to carry that team. We shall see how the Nuggets do. I was hoping he would go to the Celtics to team with Pierce. The 6'ers will continue to lose. The Nuggets will get a player that will put them on the same plane as Dallas, San Antonio, etc.

10. No one ever knocked Jordon for not practicing.
Jordon worked hard to become the player he was and he worked hard to elevate the play of his teammates. And if you don't think he made Pippen better you're crazy. He made everyone better by demanding they work their hardest in games and at practice, he was a true leader. I doubt A.I. will change his stripes in Denver but for his sake I hope he does.
