Pan-Am cycling congress opens in Cuba

HAVANA, Jan. 15 -- The Pan-American Cycling Confederation (COPACI) congress opened here Saturday.

The agenda of the congress includes the election of COPACI's directors for the 2005-2008 term, as well as review of the body's work over the last four years, and selection of the venues for thePan-American cycling championships.

The participants will also discuss BMX and mountain bike disciplines, elect representatives for the Congress of the International Cycling Union, slated for September in Madrid, Spain,and listen to a Venezuelan proposal to host the 2006 world youth championships.
