Best Players in College Basketball |
|
I have been hearing a large amount about Kevin Durant of the University of Texas. Many people are saying either they will vote for him as the player of the year or that he should be the player of the year. In addition Time Magazine said Durant will be a bigger superstar than Oden. I on the other hand have thought Greg Oden should be player of the year. I think he has had a very good year using his off hand (left hand). If he did come back to play college basketball next year and he uses his right hand he could be even better. In addition, I think Oden is more valuable to Ohio State. If not for Oden Ohio State probably would not have had as good of a season and probably would not have won their conference tournament. With Durant UT had a good year, but did not win their conference tournament. I did hear the argument that the point guard did not pass the ball to Durant enough and that is why UT lost in the conference tournament final. So, what do other DUers think? Is Kevin Durant a better players than Greg Oden? Should Kevin Durant be the player of the Year? Please explain your answer to the player of the year question.
Anyone who wants to talk about the women's game and their players is welcome to do so. The debate there seems to center around Linsday Harding and Candice Parker? I contend Harding should get player of the year in that she guided her team to an undefeated regular season. Duke's only lost came in their conference tournament. In addition, Harding may be a little more consistent than Parker? So, who is the best player in women's basketball? Is anyone looking at some of the players who do not get that much attention as possible players of the year?

1. Have only seen both players a couple of times, |
|
but right now (and this is only right now) Durant seems the more advanced player. He's a fairly decent shooter, can create his own shot, and shot free throws fairly well. If chosing between him or Oden, I'd take Durant.
But if there is a player I'd throw into the mix is the guy from Georgetown, Jeff Green I believe is his name. I watched a good bit of the Big East tourney and this guy was awesome. He seemed the most polished of anyone I've seen so far.

2. Durant is better than Oden, imo |
|
or at least Durant is playing up to his potential more than Oden is. Oden is very talented but I don't think he's the dominating player, just yet, that Durant is.

3. Don't know much about Durant |
|
might be the better player now.
But in 20 years, Greg Oden will be remember as the better player. His High school team won 3 straight state basketball titles, 45 game win streak, High school player of the year junior and senior year. If He leads Ohio state to a NCAA championship this year or stays his sophomore year, he will dominated in the NBA someday and win Multiple NBA championships. Last so many years the NBA has lacked completely any Hall of fame caliber Centers (minus Shaq) since Robinson, Akeem and Ewing retired.

4. Oden has been hampered by his injury so the jury is still out |
|
And by the jury being out I mean whther Oden will be a good player or a once in a generation thing.
Durant has absolutely dominated with a weaker supporting cast.
Oden's stats this year Min Pts R A TO Stl Bl 29.2 15.5 9.7 .7 2.1 .5 3.5
Durant
Min Pts R A TO Stl BL 35.7 25.6 11.3 1.3 2.8 1.9 1.9
Durant is the hands down POY this year. But whether or not he will be better next year or as a pro remains to be seen.

5. better? they play different positions |
|
so it's hard to say who is better, right? different skill sets.
Who was more valuable to their team? Durant. no question. Without him, Texas is in the NIT.

6. Durant Will Have A Better All Around Game In The Pros |
|
And as to women, what about Ivory Latta? She has as good a shooting range as any guy in the NCAA's. And she pplays defense. The Professor
