When Tiger is not in contention on the weekend
The quality of play among the rest of the field improves dramatically. That's been obvious for years and another example today. Sergio shot 67, draining one putt after another including 5 straight birdies from 13-17. Yeah, right, I'm sure that would have happened if Tiger were lurking. Sergio's final round scoring average in the Player's Championship was 75 before today.

You can sense how much more relaxed the field becomes, especially the front runners. Mickelson barely missed a green the past two days, two comfortable 69s en route to his first Players win.

Everyone knew Tiger was out of it Friday afternoon, barely making the cut. Immediately on Saturday you had brilliant play for hours, almost unsurpassed in recent televised PGA history. A double eagle and many terrific hole outs. Great rounds in general, on a tough course.

Occasionally a young player like Rich Beem or Zack Johnson doesn't realize they are supposed to pull over for Tiger, and screws up with a winning final round in a major. Otherwise, it's absolutely sickening when Tiger leads. I appreciate how great he is but those final rounds are normally right at par, knowing he doesn't have to do much since everyone else is too petrified, even if subconsciously, to threaten him. Johnny Miller has hinted at it many times, asking what happened to all the great final rounds to steal a championship.

1. Unfortunately, the television ratings probably relax dramatically, too!
But seriously, Awsi, you're as right as the Fox News Channel. Tiger is going to have to adjust to being married with children like everybody else.

I thought his game would fall off after he got married---but he only got better,,, not that I would blame him for the fall-off.

4. Actually he needs to adjust his swing with the driver
It's too quick and forced from the top. You can tell instantly if Tiger has made a good drive by his hand position at the start of the downswing. If there's a slight pause and no rush, it's going to be excellent and usually in the fairway. When he rushes it and cups his hands slightly while going for too much, the ball can slingshot left or right, but normally to the right.

Yeah, the TV ratings are Tiger dependent. Direct correlation. Mickelson is the most popular player with the gallery but he doesn't bring the automatic ratings like Tiger does.

3. I just heard that the guy who said Tiger was "very beatable"
didn't beat him! Get your headlines the old-fashioned way, punk--WITH YOUR GAME!
