1. Yeah, and he used to be a 350 pound nose guard

Mauia has made a nice comeback in life after being named after Ronald Reagan. I watched him last year and didn't know what to make of him as far as NFL potential. He's huge and a brute but that was a pure finesse offense. Late last season they did start using him a bit more. I remember a nice reception and run against Oregon State.

That was fun to be in Hawaii when the Dolphins drafted two Hawaii players. Many people at my hotel on Waikiki Beach said they became instant Dolphin fans.

I actually liked Miami's draft. Brady Quinn could become special but there's no denying he doesn't have great accuracy. That's the severe question mark, not his failures to defeat top teams.

Ginn is a supreme talent who would not have lasted much longer. There have been three freakish open field runners in college football the past half dozen years -- Reggie Bush, Devin Hester and Ted Ginn. You don't have the last guy on that list plummet after the first two made such impact in the league as rookies. DeSean Jackson of Cal comes close to that trio but is a shade behind, plus he's tiny.

There's also a video of Samson Satele's draft party on YouTube. He's the center taken in the 2nd round. The party was at his uncle's house and they taped it. It's pretty funny to listen to the Dolphin secretary at the end, talking to Satele and totally clueless whether Satele has graduated or not, which airport he needs to fly out of, and what date to schedule his flight to Miami. She even has to verify he is in Hawaii.

2. I think the draft was solid
Tis kid Beck is a quality kid with some real talent. As far as Ginn--- I can't wait to see some vertical speed on the Miami Dolphins. It's been a long time coming.

8. Beck defeated TCU on the road last season, 31-17
That was the game I became a believer. TCU is a brutal team to match up against yet Beck put up big numbers against them two years in a row.

That win on the road in 2006 was easily one of the top 5 efforts by any QB all season. Beck threw for more than 300 yards, and 3 second half TD passes, against a ranked foe with an excellent defense. TCU owned the nation's longest winning streak at the time, 13.

I watched that game and Beck was poised and threaded the needle. TCU was incredibly frustrated because the receivers were covered yet Beck made the plays. If you look at the game summaries, Beck was quoted that the receivers were blanketed but he put the ball where it needed to be and his receivers consistently came down with them.

It's funny, Miami's draft ratings were all over the board. I saw an A+ and also an F. Many Ds. The low grades are idiotic. The Dolphins had multiple picks in the 2nd round and a high number of selections overall. There's no doubt the nose guard from Utah who they picked in round 4 has excellent athletic ability for the position. The people with the low grades are content to violate every typical rationale and overreact to passing on Brady Quinn. It's always standard that the lowest grades are reserved for teams that didn't have many picks. You're really stretching probability to insist a team with plenty of picks botched them all.

Dr. Z from Sports Illustrated was very high on Beck, saying he reminds him of Jeff Garcia but with a much better arm. He said he doesn't make predictions but had no idea how Beck lasted as long as he did in the draft.

I have much more faith in Randy Mueller than Saban and Spielman multiplied by 1000.

9. Ginn has the most talent of any Dolphin receiver since Warfield
Not nearly as polished as Warfield, and probably will never get to that lofty level, but definitely more speed and big play ability than either Duper or Clayton. Now it's just a matter of turning the ability into that type of career.

Here's a YouTube video of Ginn in college:

"This is the first time I've ever seen a white quarterback look like a black quarterback." - in reference to Miami passing on Brady Quinn.

7. LOL...he knows an internet meme.

I'm surprised a guy going in the NFL is familiar with "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!"

11. They signed him to a contract the other day
One article was kind of funny, saying he didn't expect to be drafted and was more than willing to try Arena Football or the CFL. The Dolphins apparently expressed more interest in him than any other team.

And Mueller must have really wanted him, since they had three picks in the 7th round, but chose the juggernaut in the 6th.
