Karl 'The Mailman' Malone Delivers to Louisiana Tech

RUSTON — Louisiana Tech introduced NBA legend Karl Malone on Wednesday as its new director of basketball promotion and assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Malone then outlined an aggressive new fundraising plan designed to fund radical improvements to his alma mater's aging basketball facility, the Thomas Assembly Center, and announced $350,000 in personal donations. "It felt like the right thing to do," Malone said. "It's very exciting for me to be able to."

A crowded room of boosters on campus exploded into applause and cheers. Malone cautioned, however, that the refurbishing project would be a team effort.

"Everybody has to be involved to make this work," Malone said. "This is the time for the Tech family to step up and make this happen."
