Justin Verlander threw a no-hitter at the Brewers, 12K's |
|
The guy has three good pitches and he had masterful control of all three tonight.
The final batter even got a 102mph fastball.
First Tiger no-hitter at home since Virgil Trucks in 1952.

1. Darn. You beat me to it. |

Congrats to Justin Verlander. A 102 mph fastball for the last batter? Boy he must have been pumped.

Is it too early to predict a Tigers/Red Sox ALCS?

Gotta throw a word in for my Indians. 5-2 against the Tigers this year and a top 3 in the rotation that could dominate a playoff series. In fact, the Indians have played like crap since sweeping the Tigers in Detroit, and we're still tied for first.
The Angels are an excellent team and I could see them beating anyone.
Don't forget the Twins late-season push last year, and the A's late-season push every year.

3. Verlander threw a very good game and Ned Yost needs to be shown the door. |
|
The sign of a good manager is improvement as the season progresses. With Yost it is a broken record of fade, fade, fade. Year after year.
At some point it is time to look elsewere.

I couldn't agree MORE. This was a team that was 15 GAMES ahead in a weak division and now they are just fading. Time for someone else to step in.

but I question leading off with the black hole of Counsell and Graffanino. Then why not PH someone like Braun or Graffy in the ninth? I guess he didn't want to put the rookies in that situation.

4. Not Sure, But My Hubby Said This Was A First Time No-Hitter For The Brewers? |
|
I don't really see how that could be true, but you never know?

They have never been the victim of a no hitter.

in 1984, and before that, not since the 50's.
Virgil Trucks threw two no hitters in the 50's, but, according to my dad, the Tigers didn't have a winning season that year (my dad knows his stats, I'm sure he's right).

The extended M family was on the phone last night, from Seattle to Milwaukee to Michigan, celebrating this feat.
The Tigers have apparently only had six no-hitters ever.
