'Pacman' Jones to face 2 felony charges
<snip>

"Suspended NFL player Adam ''Pacman'' Jones will face two felony charges in a strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting in February, Las Vegas police and the Clark County District Attorney's office said Wednesday.

Two other people previously identified by police as friends of the troubled Tennessee Titans cornerback also will face felony charges in the fracas inside the Minxx club, police said in a statement.

No one is named in the shooting that occurred later outside the club and left a bar employee paralyzed and two others with minor injuries, police Capt. James Dillon said.

Warrants were issued for the arrests of Jones, Robert Reid of Carson, Calif., and Sadia Morrison of New York, Dillon said.

The 23-year-old Jones, of Franklin, Tenn., faces two counts of felony coercion stemming from allegations he threatened to kill club employees and bit a bar bouncer on the ankle, according to a criminal complaint filed in Clark County District Court."

1. No surprise
David Roger is a no-nonsense district attorney who is not going to let something like this go without filing charges. He successfully prosecuted the Ted Binion murder trial in 2000, along with David Wall, before running for district attorney. Lesser prosecutors blew the retrial years later, when the original verdict was set aside due to judicial error.

2. Too Much Trouble
Edited on Thu Jun-21-07 08:14 AM by erpowers
Jones has gotten into too much trouble for his young age. This is about the 11th time he has been questioned by police. I am not trying to be high and mighty, but this guy really needs to try to make some better decisions. He also needs to find some new and better friends. It seems that his friends get him into a great deal of trouble

On another note when are we going to start hearing about the bad image of the NFL like we hear about the NBA. There is one team that cannot seem to find many player who do not get arrested. There are a number of other guys who cannot seem to stay out of trouble. In addition, there are other guys who are doing other stupid stuff. So, does the NFL have a bad image yet?

9. In a related story...
Dolphins player hit with Taser, arrested

<snip>

"Miami Dolphins player was subdued with a shock from a Taser gun and arrested after he got into a scuffle with Miami Beach police officers, authorities said Saturday.

Frederick Evans, 23, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting with violence, and trespassing, police said.

According to police, this is what happened:

Evans was trying to force his way into a cab outside a nightclub on the 1400 block of Washington Avenue at 6:20 a.m. Police officers told him to get out of the car, but he refused.

The officers told Evans he was under arrest and when trying to handcuff him, Evans cursed at them and a violent struggle ensued, police said. One officer was bitten on his left wrist and received several bruises; another received scrapes and bruises on her left knee.

The officers then used their Taser guns on Evans to calm him down."

5. You can't compare arrests in the NBA and the NFL
Football has four times as many players on the field as basketball has on the court; not to mention the benches.

I don't think clubs should even let Pacman Jones in the door. Not only that, the NFL and the NBA BOTH need to address this whole strip club issue. What is wrong with these people? Why are their tastes so low, why do they hate women? The teams should carry counselors.

7. He didn't spend the money, remember?
He just wanted to throw it up in the air and then take it back.

Also, 80K is chump change in Vegas. Do they really need someone there who has every night end in gunshots?

8. anyplace at 2am that requires wearing a gun for safety
is probably not the best place to be, especially when your still dealing with a recent run in with the law.

I really think teams need to waste two draft picks on some of these players that are "high risk" one for the player and the second for the therapist
