So, I heard an idea today RE: Stanley Cup
The cup has only not been awarded once...and that was because of a flu epidemic. SO that's kinda understandable. However... do we really want a dash in 2005 because the strike was on? Nah.
So, the cup should be awarded to another team.
But what league? Ideas?

1. The Stanley Cup was never meant to be just for the NHL.
I saw it on TV a few weeks back. Someone was actually proposing that it go to one of several other Canadian hockey leagues, and apparently there's no reason it can't be done, other than tradition, I suppose.

And that's about all I recall about that.

2. The Stanley Cup has been around long before the NHL
I wouldn't mind seeing it awarded to a team in another league. I know it probably wouldn't happen, but it would be kind of cool :) .

5. It was given tot he People of Canada to unite them
I don't know WHY the NHL thinks they own it...It should be the property of the people of Canada

3. How about...
...the top Juniors team at the end of the year? Or the top AHL team? Or for that matter, the winner of Worlds this spring?

4. ACK! GAH! You must be kidding!
Awarding the Stanley Cup to some AHL or Junior team is sacrilege.

6. Not at all
If anything it's the most Stanley CUpish thing you can do. The cup is rife with folklore..this owuld add to it.

8. Yes I know the folklore but I don't think inferior teams should be a part.
The Cup should sit in repose until the NHL comes back or another elite league emerges.

7. It should be awarded to whoever shows up to fight for it.
Teams of 5, no holds barred.
