Spurs/Suns, Friday 1/21, point guard battle: Tony Parker & Steve Nash |
|
Almost the end of the 2nd quarter right now. Nash is outplaying Parker at this point, but we still have 24 minutes of basketball.
They'll meet up in the playoffs if the brackets and stars are aligned, and I give the edge to the Spurs. Better all-around team.
But this is a low-scoring, grind-'em-out, defense-makes-the difference game so far. Just like a preview of the playoffs.
"I love this game!"

Down 17 at the start of the fourth, playing only Duncan and Ginobili and three bench guards (Udrih, Barry, Brown) the rest of the way, the Spurs force overtime and win the thing. Ginobili goes apeshit with 48 points. Recap from the San Antonio paper: http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/stories/MYSA012205.1D.BKNspurs.suns.gamer.305e5dd3.html(What is this "foot ball" people speak of?)

2. Ginobili is a wild man |
|
This game should get him a reserve slot for the All Star Game. Popovic will be coaching his first one.
I just read something that the Spurs players were laughing about Pop's having to coach a game with zero defense. :D

3. Finally got a chance to watch the whole thing |

on the replay. Well, most of it. Can't believe ESPN would cut whole minutes out of overtime, but include all the stupid Jim Gray "interviews" throughout the game.
That was one of the best games I've seen in a long, long time.
