The only reason we hear so much about Ben Roethlisberger.... |
|
... is becaue the NFL so desperately wants to see a white quarterback be successful. Everybody knows he's really been riding the coattails of Jerome Bettis and a great defense. I mean, look at how awful his decision-making process is - he throws so many interceptions.
I know, I know, everyone will give the "he's just a rookie" defense. But that doesn't mean anything. Look at where he went to college: Miami OF OHIO. He wasn't even good enough to play for a REAL program.
By contrast, consider Donovan McNabb. A true quarterback if ever there was one. McNabb passed for about 4000 yards this season, threw 4 touchdowns for every interception, and about 2 touchdowns per game. Oh yah, McNabb is also a Superbowl quarterback, and hass carried his team since the loss of its superstar, Terrell Owens.
Roethlisberger on the other hand only had about 2500 yards, and had some trouble telling which team players were on, throwing 2 interceptions for every 3 touchdowns. He's been the weak link in a number of games, unfairly forcing his teammates to carry more than their own weight, in order to compensate. This is currently happening in the Partriots game, for example, where he has 3 interceptions and NO touchdowns.
I know it's not politically correct to say, but just on the numbers, it's patently obvious that Roethlisberger is a product of the NFL's secret affirmative action program.
McNabb is a clear example of a leader, both on and off the field. Roethlisberger is just throws interception after interception, and complains about how much his hand hurts. Roethlisberger is a clear example of what's wrong with the radical liberal agenda of putting people in positions that are beyond their natural capabilities.

But you might imagine I'm not a stinkin' rush fan either, and don't care to read about or hear whatever drivel he might spew.

Dear God.
Why is it he never points to the sky when he throws an interception? If the only reason you're playing in the NFL is because of God, why not give the big guy his due when you throw in double coverage?

9. Right, which is why they don't hype Micheal Vick at all |
|
Ha ha ha.
Michael Vick can't even throw the ball downfield and they act like he's the second coming.
The media always hypes QBs first, and running backs second. And since Bettis is not a particularly exciting RB (he's a power back, not a speedy back) he's never gonna get a lot of pub.

I got it, and am not a big sports fan. If this is original to you I say well done! I bet if you had posted this on a more sports oriented thread the response would have been better.

13. All good - just tryin out different writing styles.... |
|
I had hoped that the specific Limbaugh-is-a-racist-jackass issue would've made the topic accessible to non-sports people... so that then the sarcastic nature of my story would've been evident...
Thanks for the props though! lol

14. Why push Roethlisberger |
|
when they have Tom Brady and Peyton Manning?
Brady is going to his third Super Bowl. Manning broke NFL records. Sounds like a couple of successful white quarterbacks to me.
I think you jest. Your post sounds like Rush Limbaugh reversed.

24. This is ridiculous--this is only his first year, and for a first year QB |
|
he was exceptional. That's why he got all the press, and even with Bettis and the rest, the Steelers would not have gone 15-1 without him.

He was 14-0 until yesterday.
And won some of those games on his own.
