I'm rooting for The Eagles but the Pats are going to smoke 'em. |
|
There is no "i" in team. There are no "i's" on the Patriots - they're going to bring it all home again.
Still cheering for Philly though.

But I feel great for Tom Brady. Overlooked in the draft, ignored all season while everyone raved on about Petyon ("3 points") Manning, and yet on track to maybe win Super Bowl MVP for the third time.

2. Sorry Pats, but I gotta root for the "other PA team" |
|
Since my Steelers got spanked by the Pats, I have to stay true to blue PA. Sorry Pats and the AFC.
Go Eagles.:bounce:

The Eagles have been the among the best teams in football for five years running. How they could get smoked by anyone is a mystery.
How the Patriot secondary is going to stop the Eagles receivers is another mystery.
I am sure some patriot fan will explain this in terms of Xs and Os instead of the "Belichick is God and Brady is the second coming" explanation.
You guys really have no clue how good the Eagles are.

Everyone wondered how on earth the Patriots were going to stop the Colts receivers and they managed it.
Pressure on the quarterback, lots of deep zones, and try to keep McNabb in the pocket. McNabb will be harder to contain than Manning was, but I think the Pats will do it with little trouble. He'll get free for a couple of good scrambles here and there, but in the end I don't think he'll be a factor.
Or I'm completely nuts and the Eagles win in a romp. lol

The Pats are a great team, but they did lose the Dolphins, and the Eagles are better than people think. Should be a good, close game.

10. Without TO, the Eagles have no real weapons. Westbrook is |
|
a lesser version of Marshall Faulk. The Pats took care of him in SB 36. Pinkston and Lewis would not even start for other top teams.
Back in the scrambling days of McNabb, the Pats still smoked the Eagles. The Eagles are improved but not on offense without TO.
The Eagles only played a few good teams: Ravens, Steelers, Bengals. They did not do well (playing hard or not). The Steeler defense shut down the Eagle offense as well as it shut down the Jet offense.
Eagle fans keep pointing to the Miami game, but that loss was due to a very poor four minutes of play at the end of the game when the game should have been won with an 11 point lead at 3:59 (stupid pass interference when not needed and a poor Brady pass decision). That tends to happen in unimportant games (so say the Eagle fans).

11. Westbrook is very dangerous and there are other weapons. |

The Bengals? a good team? Do you even watch football? Westbrook is not a lesser version of anyone, he's a great player in his own right and Andy Reid is not Mike Martz. You act like New England steamrolled the Panthers and the Rams in the Super Bowls they won on last second field goals. Everyone game plans for 36 but no one has stopped him yet. If you also have to worry about T.O. then who do you double? T.O. is playing you know. If you double both then you have wide receivers and tight ends being covered by linebackers or backup d-backs. If you don't double them, they do ugly shit to you. We're more than a one trick pony. And then there is D-Mac. The Pats haven't faced a QB like McNabb all year. If you play contain, he'll pick you apart, if you play cover, he'll run on you. He's a tough nut himself. The Eagles are going to score some points, it's absurd to think otherwise.
Back in the scrambling days? If you are referring to the game last year when McNabb was still hurt and we had an entire rookie secondary then yeah we got smoked. But this isn't that team. This team has the best secondary in the league, the second most sacks in the league (Atlanta had one more) and gave up the second least amount of points in the NFL despite playing backups the last two weeks. You can't look at history to decide this game, they aren't playing in 2003.
I don't point to the Miami or Steeler games the Pats lost or the one we lost as anything but a dip in the schedule. Obviously it's not indicative of the Patriots and I believe if we played the Steelers again we'd beat them too. A rookie QB is not going to beat Belichick or Jim Johnson twice. The Steelers were a fraud and should have lost the first game, the Championship Game should have been at Gillette.
Go ahead and think it's a runaway. This game is going to be a nail biter down to the wire and could go either way.

12. What root are you smoking? |
|
Another football-smart person I guess.
Will they smoke them by three points like they smoked the rams? Or will they smoke them by three points like they smoked the panthers? How will they blow-out the Eagles? They snuffed the colts by stopping the middle crossing routes, and the colts never tried to go deep. The stopped the over-rated Steelers by simply scoring first and forcing the rookie to have to win it. The Eagles will go deep. How will the Patriots stop that?
