1. Marlins miss playoffs

I voted that they'd make the playoffs, but now that I think about it...

The Braves (with the addition of Hudson, and Smoltz becoming a starter) will win their umpth straight NL east division, and the Mets, with Petey and Beltran, will win the wild card. Sorry, but the Marlins are in what's now a semi-tough division.

Edit: It's not out of the question though that the Mets could collapse, and the Marlins could be the wild card. The division is a pipe dream.

don't impress me much. The next 4 are good. There pitchers have to show they can do it over the course of a full season.

And, although this is a pipe dream, shipping Pierre's overrated ass out would also be a nice touch. But this does look like one of the teams to watch, especially if Beckett finally gets his blister problems taken care of once and for all, and puts together a good season. The bullpen also looks a bit suspect outside of the late-inning guys, but that can be overcome with a few shrewd signings and waiver claims (see: 2003, Chad Fox).
