LSU is the visiting team in the BCS Game
so Ohio State will have the home field advantage. Is there no end to the breaks the Big Ten teams get?

1. Has...
...official Terry Porter been assigned to the game?

2. The replays clearly showed that it was the right call
The Miami guy didn't turn around to look at the ball. Clear cut.

9. Oh horse fucking shit.
It's the worst call I've ever seen in football. Ever.... Shit...the NCAA apologized for the fucking call.

30. It didn't fit with the way the game had been called
That was my gripe. Also the beef of the Canes fans who attended the game. All night they let contact go in the secondary, then make a complete change in that regard on a game-deciding play.

Besides, earlier on the same possession Gamble blatantly pushed off on 4th and 14 to keep the drive alive. Many Canes fans in attendance were outraged at that non-call, but at the time it fit with the "let them play" attitude of the officials. One they would change only a few plays later.

3. Was that predetermined or is it because Ohio State is the #1 team in the nation?

5. Well dangit now you've got me wondering.
Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, USC all were higher ranked than their opponents and wore their home jerseys. So it would appear the higher ranking rule applies.

But Missouri, Boston College, and AZ State were higher ranked and all wore their road whites.

How DO they designate a "home" team for bowl games? Coin toss?

6. I don't know how that is worked out
But I heard on NOLA radio this morning that LSU would be the visiting team. It will all work out because LSU likes wearing their "away" Jerseys all the time.

4. Ha! Ha! Ha!
I suppose Florida were the visitors in the game played in Florida, and USC were the visitors in the game played in Southern California, too!

I dearly loved watching the Capitol One Bowl and would love to see it replayed 20 times, but the one thing that would have made it more fun was to see it played in the ten inches of snow they had in Ann Arbor.

7. Lisa Lisa Lisa
OSU won't get the weather break. Monday's NOLA weather forecast is highs in the mid 70's, lows in the mid 50's with a slight chance of rain. No snow in New Orleans forecast.

Hey its all psychology. I think I'll head for NOLA this weekend. No doubt it will have been turned into Columbus South by then since they are the "home" team and all.

12. Here's the thing - I'M ROOTING FOR LSU!
I'm usually Big Ten all the way, but I've made my feelings about Jim Tressell clear, and cannot root for any team he is associated with (please note that prior to his coming to OSU, and even through his first year when I didn't know better, I did root for OSU in bowl games. This is not an OSU thing).

Besides, Les Miles has some payback to do after Scooter Herbstreit's big "scoop". Not that I think Michigan wanted Les Miles. The best sign at the Capitol One Bowl (it was a two-part sign) was: If you can get Rich quick, Why settle for LES?

15. He always has problems
He tends to slither out of personal responsibility (which means, I guess, that he is either lying or turning a deaf ear), but Youngstown State did go on probation.

19. Even if it were to snow in NOLA
(happens once every decade or two), it would hardly affect the game to be played inside the Superdome.

20. Hey KamaAina
I'm trying to make these Big Ten folks feel welcome. In fact I'll probably go down to the Quarter this weekend and do it personally. We got a light snow cover on Christmas morning three years ago, about 30 miles north of NOLA. Everyone was out taking pictures. It was gone by 10 AM.

10. I don't
know although that is as good a reason as any. Just heard on the radio this AM that LSU will be visiting team, which will work out fine for them because they would be wearing their white Jerseys either way. Unless OSU chooses their away Jerseys just to piss LSU off. They like their white Jerseys like the Cowboys do.

14. Interesting backstory on the Cowpies white-at-home tradition.
Tex Schramm was a big early booster of the league, not just his team. He realized that if the Cowboys wore their dark (blue) jerseys at home, the games would look the same to all the fans: blue vs. white. So he decided the Cowboys would always wear white for home games, so the fans could see the different visiting team's colors every week.

No clue as to why LSU does it though.

16. I don't know about LSU either
My LSU lore information is wanting. My rabid LSU fan neighbor might be able to fill me in. Schramm's idea was a good one. Never thought of it that way but it does make sense.

The whole thing about good guys wearing white.

21. I actually remember something from the 70's about the Cowboys
trying to market themselves as America's team (though they were NOT the ones who coined that nickname) and the whole good guys thing. Kind of the opposite of Jerry Glanville and the Atlanta Falcons.

Actually at the time I think it was successful, as the cowboys have been one of the most valuble sports franchises since the early 70's. It's all in the marketing.

24. I have to admit, that it takes a lot to be a Saints fan.
I always did admire Archie Manning for taking the abuse that he did down there. Never once complaining, while getting the crap beaten out of him.

BTW, I wouldn't consider myself an insane fan (though turtlensue, might!), but have been a fan since around the ice bowl game (barely remember it).

26. I consider
the Saints a mangy Pet Dog. You love him to death but then he craps on the kitchen floor, but then ya just keep on loving him. If the Saints ever won the Super Bowl I think that would be the end of New Orleans as we know it. The team just has to never reach the top, as God intended.

My sports insanity is split between:

- The Phillies (my number one love of all time <not counting the wife>) and

- The Razorback Football Team (My Dear Old Alma Mater)

23. Shramm invoked all kinds of things
I didn't know about the home white jerseys but I did know that he and the Cowboys organization initiated:

NFL cheerleaders-at least as "added entertainment" ;-) oh and he did away/never had a band like the REdskins or the Colts (others too maybe)

the 40 yard dash-replaced the old 100 yarder since the longest a player ever runs on one play is 40 yards, plus it more accurately measures starting speed as well as closing speed or at least you can't hide a deficiency.

the extended goal posts

the first down marker on the ground-so players still had a good idea when the chain guys were getting out of the way

I think they were the first to replace flags with pylons in the endzone but they definitely were the first to mark the 20 with blue and red-this was for film evaluation but I am pretty sure it was the origin for the "red zone"

oh and leaving the hole in the roof so God could watch his favorite team
