I wonder if any of the Kentucky basketball fans are now wishing that Tubby Smith was still coaching the Kentucky basketbally team. While Billy Gillispie probably will become a good coach when he gets things together, Smith's new team is having a better year than Kentucky. Minnesota is currently 11-3 while Kentucky is 6-7. Things could change later, but that is the way they are now.

1. And Smith couldn't have inherited a more ragtag bunch of guys, either. |

MN basketball has sucked ever since the cheating scandal under Clem Haskins. Last year the Gophers finished 9-22 and experts were saying Tubby's streak of 20+ win seasons was a goner for sure.
I am not a huge basketball fan but Joel Maturi (Gophers AD) scored BIGTIME by landing Tubby. What a turnaround.

2. Cat fans are blaming their current situation.... lack of talent... on Tubby's recruiting while.... |

at UK.
They ain't real happy with their current coach, Billy Gillispie, either from what I gather.
And since making fun of your opponent when he's down is what college sports is all about.... Florida fans refer to UK's Coach Billy as... The Back-up Billy, since UK made a run at Florida's Billy Donovan prior to hiring Billy Gillispie.
I always thought Tubby was a good coach. Good at Georgia and at UK. But if he couldn't recruit well at UK than that's a problem.
