1. FANTASTIC! and this is from a Cowboy fan
He was so clutch. A possession receiver who could also run the post. Great blocker too.

Monk was a fantastic player.

3. well deserved!
I'm glad he is finally in. He was a great rival and always a clutch receiver for one of the best teams during the 1980s.

4. Good for Art. But Chris Carter was screwed.

5. I can't disagree with that.
Cris Carter should've been in on the first ballot for sure. But I don't think the HOF voters could have coped with another year of angry fans and commentators over the Monk thing. It's just a shame that Carter had to be caught in the middle. There seems to be an approaching glut of deserving offensive HOFers who will be shafted just because of the 5-player limit for non-senior candidates.

6. Two cornerbacks are the highlight

Green and Thomas definitely belong.

Zimmerman over Keuchenberg is a joke. Must have been a force, desperate for the Broncos to have another entry. In terms of performance, I defy anyone to watch tapes of Kooch and Zimmerman and conclude Zimmerman was superior.

Art Monk was a nice possession player who never should have made the HOF. I honestly believe Dr. Z and the astute others who fought his enshrinement simply got sick of the backlash and wanted to move on.

Fred Dean, now that's an interesting pick. He was a smallish pass rush specialist with the Chargers in his peak seasons, then surprisingly filled out quite a bit with the 49ers and was a very good every down DE. I can't really argue with that pick.

Gad, LB standards for the HOF used to be exceptionally high. Unless you're a Butkus or LT or Mad Stork or Singletary or Lanier they kept you out. But once they allow a Harry Carson I guess the next logical step is a similarly borderline OLB in Andre Tippett. Disruptive player but I can't remember any point he seemed like a HOF certainty.

In a weak year they should have elevated four, if that's the minimum. This class has stretch marks all over it.

7. I'm happy for Gary Zimmerman
He was certainly a key component for the Broncos in the mid-90s, up to and including their first Super Bowl title.

8. Monk should have gone in years ago
and I bleed Silver and Blue. Too much politics in the way NFL HOF voting is done.
