NFL - 6 Games left - playoff picture
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 02:41 PM by Champ
The .500 teams in the AFC are
AFC East
New England 9-1 AFC Rec 6-1 Div 4-0
NY Jets 7-3 AFC 6-3 Div 3-2

AFC North
Pittsburgh 9-1 AFC 7-1 Div 4-1
Baltimore 7-3 AFC 5-2 Div 3-1

AFC South
Indy 7-3 AFC 4-3 Div 3-1
Jacksonville 6-4 AFC 5-4 Div 2-3

AFC West
Denver 7-3 AFC 4-2 Div 3-0
San Diego 7-3 AFC 5-2 Div 2-1

Too early for playoff pictures but this is how it looks
1st round bye: New England and Pittsburgh
Wildcard Matchup #3 Denver vs #6 Baltimore
Wildcard Matchup #4 Indianapolis #5 New York Jets
I think Baltimore has the tiebreaker over San Diego

In the NFC
I'm doing teams at .500 or better
In the East
Philadelphia 9-1 NFC 7-0 Div 3-0
New York Giants 5-5 NFC 4-5 Div 2-1

North
Green Bay 6-4 NFC 5-2 Div 2-1
Minnesota 6-4 NFC 4-3 Div 2-1

South
Atlanta 8-2 NFC 6-1 Div 2-0

West
Seattle 6-4 NFC 5-3 Div 2-3
St. Louis 5-5 NFC 5-2 Div 4-0

Picture
First Round Byes: Philadelphia and Atlanta
Wild Card Matchup: #3 Green Bay vs #5 Minnesota
Wild Card Matchup: #4 Seattle vs #6 St. Louis

I believe one of the 4-6 teams (Arizona, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Detroit) will get into the playoffs by the end of the year. Don't know which one, not Chicago or New Orlean's defense.

2. We're..
bummed in my family--no Dallas, no 49ers, no Carolina, no Chiefs but my sister is happy--her Vikings still have a chance. Will there be an Ashlee Simpson lip-synch malfunction during Super Bowl halftime? oops a real musician/singer-songwriter is actually playing--it's Paul McCartney! Yeah, yeah, yeah!

10. Heh. A 21 point loss wasn't too painful was it?
I had a good time at Giants Stadium though, it's fun to sing the fight song in your opponent's house.

11. Yeah, we don't beat up opposing fans....most of the time ;-)
Ahhh, I'm still giddy at the thought that we may make the playoffs at 7-9 or 8-8. I knew we were bad but Jesus....

That said, I make my grand return to the Stadium from CA for the Pittsburgh game.

I'd say good luck, but you're an Iggle fan ;-)

13. HaHa! We only beat up the ones dumb enough to ask for it.
Seriously, I would never beat up a fan of another team just for being a fan of another team. The ones who get beat up are the ones who try to be hard guys. Just take your abuse and leave, a lot of times if you simply laugh and start an actual football conversation things get civil real fast. When we went up there last week there was some hostility but mostly good natured ribbing. You take it and have a good time or you act like a fool and end up in the hospital.

Actually this only applies in certain places: Philly, New York, New England, Oakland, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The other NFL cities that I've been to have had friendly fans, too friendly in some cases.

14. Philly is rough, plain and simple....
Maybe its better now at the Lincoln but the Vet was a freaking war zone.

Trust me, Philly isn't alone in having rough fans. I have a large contingent of family that goes to almost every game. Before I moved to CA, I used to got to 4 or 5 games ayear with scalped tix, given tix whatever. I am the only one who never went to the little jail under Giants Stadium(3 very close incidents including an amusing dialogue with a NJ State Trooper who advises me to stop trying to climb the fence)...and that includes some of my cousins wives!

5. the Jets would beat Indy
I know Peyton is playing out of his mind right now, but the Jets front four would eat him for lunch.

If we can get Pennington back, we'll be in good shape.

I'm also secretly rooting for Martin to get injured so we can play LaMont Jordan more. I think he's an AMAZING talent who's sat on the bench for 4 years and has only shown flashes of what he can do.

If he was starting on any other team he'd lead the league in rushing.

6. Only one Packer in the top five
but yet they keep on rolling. Brett Favre is the toughest and saviest guy in the NFL. He may be the best pure football player out there. And I believe the Pack would host St. Louis if the playoffs were today. 3vs.6 and 4vs.5. Anyway, the NFC North will not have any other champion than the Packers.

7. Yes, doesnt #6 play # 3 ??
Its too soon to tell anyway. IF the packers make the playoffs they will only be the 4th team in modern history to come from 1-4.

Lots of mediocrity in the NFL

The cream is NE, PITTS, INDY and Philly

9. What do we need pictures for?
Why do other teams even bother to show up for games?

Pittsburgh has the whole thing sewn up, nobody will beat them for the rest of the season
