Who's gonna get Zach Thomas?
The Patriots and the Saints have both made offers. I don't know why the Saints are in on this action. I don't believe their needs are with Linebackers.

1. One of my favorite players.
But he's up there in age, he's a small guy, and I don't know how much he'd be worth it at this point in his career. Personally, I want the Pats to go after Briggs from Chicago.

2. Pats make the most sense
Zach wants to win and the Pats have demonstrated they prefer smart old vets on defense.

Plus, he already knows the division rivals so the adjustment would be lesser.

3. Zach Thomas spurns Pats, joins Cowboys
<snip>

"Dolphins fans won't have to worry about seeing former Dolphins linebacker Zach Thomas haunting them in a New England Patriots uniform. Thomas signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Dallas Saturday, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus announced.

Since being released from the Dolphins on Valentine's Day, Thomas had received offers from New England and New Orleans this week before accepting Dallas offer. Thomas, obviously wanting a shot at a championship after six consecutive playoff-less seasons with the Dolphins, had said he wanted to play for a team that he needs more than they need him.

''The runners up were great picks, too,'' Rosenhaus said. ``Clearly, New England's New England. You can't say any more about that. And the Saints are one year removed from being in the championship game and needed defensive help. They have a great offense. Plus, he loved that scheme.''

But in the end Dallas' economics, locale and that they were the NFC's top seed in the playoffs this season before being upset in the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl champion Giants, carried the day.

''Zach's had a Hall of Fame career,'' Rosenhaus said. ``He has seven Pro Bowls. He has more tackles than anybody in the Hall of Fame. I didn't want him to cheapen himself by leaving Miami and going to a team that's not going to be a huge upgrade for him.

''It's a dream come true for a man from Pampa, Texas and Texas Tech University,'' Rosenhaus said. ``He's been blessed to play for the Dolphins for 12 seasons and then to have an opportunity to fulfill a dream and possibly win a championship on a great football team...I called Terrell Owens and Marion Barber, who are my clients and I said, ``I think I just helped you get closer to that ring.''

4. That's cool. Not a 'Boys fan, but he can help them.
I just hope he stays healthy because the league needs far more of his type.

5. he's done
he can't play more than a few games without getting a concussion and even healthy he isn't nearly the player he was. Just a name at this point.

6. They were saying the same thing about Junior Seau last year.
Looks like the Boys are bringing in veteran players like the Pats did last year.

7. he wasn't much either
the Pats were great last year because of their offense. Not anything Seau did.

9. I think you're underrating Zach
He still has superb instincts and desire, and makes plays. There was a massive difference in Miami's defense, even last year, when Zach was out and a roundabout goof like Channing Crowder was forced to play inside.

I'm in Miami right now and Zach has been interviewed on many programs. Claims he's completely healthy. I concede concussions tend to come in bunches for older players, but put Zach on a team with talented DTs and a pass rush and he'll be a positive force, for at least a handful of plays per game. Hell, he's got plenty more in the tank than Seau, who was good for many key red zone stops particularly late in the year.
