Georgia Tech -UVa basketball game 'rained out'
http://www.ajc.com/braves/content/sports/gatech/stories/2008/02/21/techrainburst_0222.html

Georgia Tech basketball coach Paul Hewitt joked Thursday that his team, "finally caught a break," in Alexander Memorial Coliseum, where Tech is 4-6.

7 p.m. game against Virginia was postponed because a leaky roof kept dropping water on the lane near the east goal.

That's right. Rained out for the first time in a basketball history that dates back to 1905-06, when games were played at a place called Peachtree Auditorium before coach John Heisman's teams moved to the Cable Piano Company Hall and then on campus in what was called the Crystal Palace.

Some drought, huh?

"I think there was one time during a summer camp at the other end, but never that spot before, at least not in the eight years I've been here," Hewitt said.

1. I recall
back in the late 60's or early 70's when a baseball game at the Astrodome was "rained out." Massive flooding in the area prevented anyone from getting to the place. A little bit of moisture on a basketball court could be disastrous.

2. Actually UVa got sort of rained out of a game a few years ago
against Tech at the Richmond Coliseum. The hockey ice under the floor melted and they had to call off the game. UVa was close to getting into the tournament that year- a win would have helped....hold it who the hell am I kidding? this is UVa there is no way they would have ended up actually pulling off a do-or-die win

This whole thing is very emblematic of being a Hoos fan in any sport. We are like the Charlie Brown's of the sports world-the ball always gets pulled out and there is a permanent cloud over our heads and those stinking Cubs fans get all the press for it!!!!

3. There's a good picture
of Chris Long in Sports Illustrated this week. Looks just like his Daddy but with more hair.

Hey, you guys got the Washington and Jefferson links to be proud of.

Stinking Cubs fans indeed. There is nothing more loveable then a Phillies fan.
