This is a really great piece on Caray. Take the time to read the comments after the article; great stuff.

Here's to ya, sir. :toast:

My Phone Call with Harry Caray

P.S. If that link leads to a website or blog filled with filth, nudity, mayhem, hatred or anything else that might cause dismay, let me be clear that I don't vouch for the whole site. Just that Caray link. You've been warned.

P.P.S. And yes, I have shared a few sports-blog story links that had some seriously wacky shit going on elsewhere on the main page (according to a few I gave links to, but they have weak constitutions, so...), so my policy nowadays is to warn and then flee. And hey, nobody's forcing you to click around on strange websites. :P

*fleeing*

*stopping*

*returning briefly*

P.P.P.S. Caray. :toast: again.

*fleeing 2.0*

2. I Miss Harry Dearly
Especially this year. The Cubs signed a Japanese OF, and I would have love to hear Harry pronounce Fukudome. That would have been fun.

4. Holy Cow!
"In Chicago, Harry was a larger-than-life symbol of baseball and like all Chicagoans, I valued him not only for his contributions to the game but also his love and zest for life. Nobody could sing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' like he could. And I hope he's doing a seventh-inning rendition in heaven." - First Lady Hillary Clinton

5. The Johnny Most of baseball!
He was legend in the sport. One of the all time greats to call a game. And he was a lot better than Phil Rizzuto, who was watching a totally different game than the one being covered.
