C. Vivian Stringer Gets 800th Win
I know this is a little late, but last week C. Vivian Stringer, the head coach of the Rutgers Women's basketball team coached her 800th win. Stringer has an interesting story. I learned this morning that in her first 11 years coaching at a historical black college she did not receive a paycheck. Stringer has also endured a number of personal tragedies and near tragedies. It is great that Mrs. Stringer has won her 800th game. In addition, she needs to get much more publicity. She seems to be very underrated and under-hyped.

1. I remember her
She's one of those legacy coaches, I remember seeing her coach at the University of Iowa...she's a damn good coach. Congratulations Coach Stringer!!

2. very sad when she left here
our current coach (Bluder) is just fine but Stringer was a first rate coach. She was actually able to put over ten thousand people in the stands on numerous occasions which is a good crowd at the U of I for a womens basketball game. Actually, that's a good number for a men's crowd right now.

Great, great coach her husband died at the hospitals here and that was a contributing factor to her leaving. DIdn't blame the hospital, I can't remember what he died of but she just wasn't able to put the past behind her while in town so felt she had to leave, plus I think she had family out east? Anyway, it was a good thing when she brought her team in a few years ago to play in a tourney. People love her here.

3. Didn't she leave for more money?
Not sure. Didn't know the whole story about her husband.
