Favre's retirement treated like when Reagan died
Lots of Wisconsinites making the trek to Favre's hometown of Kiln, Mississippi which literally is a one stoplight town. Yesterday's front page of the Gulfport Sun-Herald was nothing but Favre's Jersey, above and below the fold.

1. I had the same feeling watching the reports on ESPN.
I was saying to myself, "C'mon folks. Brett Farve retired from football after an illustrious career. He didn't drop dead of a sudden heart attack or stroke.

3. My Students Were So Sad For Me. Told Them "Hey Kids, This Isn't His Funeral"
I went on to say that I was happy for Brett. If anybody deserves a rest, it's Mr. Brett Favre Sir!

2. Reminds me of the way the media treated Cal Ripken
like he can do no wrong, almost like a God. After awhile it gets to be embarrassing.

8. He's an all-time great
And deserves to be treated as such, IMO. Lots of touchdowns, several superbowls, you name it.

5. Brett did a hell of a lot more good for the world, than Reagan ever did.

6. Big difference...we LIKE Brett
But I agree, it's overboard, like media coverage of anything is these days.

7. One big black hole in sports news between Super Bowl and baseball
Let's face it, not much else out there.
