Union to Examine Why Bonds Has No Offers
Awww, he still wears his SF cap. :)

I'd love to see him sign with some NL team, if only so he can hit a bunch more home runs against the Dodgers.

Home run king Barry Bonds, wearing a San Francisco Giants baseball cap, watches the Sacramento Kings take on the Los Angeles Lakers in an NBA basketball game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in this March 9, 2008 file photo. The lack of contract offers to Bonds will be examined by the baseball players' association as part of its annual review of the free-agent market, union head Donald Fehr said Tuesday, March 19, 2008. TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — The lack of offers to Barry Bonds will be examined by the baseball players' association as part of its annual review of the free-agent market. Less than two weeks before opening day, the 43-year-old home run king remains unsigned.

"He's in playing shape right now. He just hasn't hit off live pitching," Bonds' agent, Jeff Borris, said Tuesday. "I've had conversations with Barry. It would probably take him about two weeks to get ready."

<snip>

Tampa Bay acknowledged last month that it had internal discussions about the prospect of pursuing Bonds. St. Louis manager Tony La Russa had interest in Bonds but Cardinals management decided against opening talks.

Borris said Bonds was working out in the Los Angeles area. He wouldn't comment on the status of any negotiations.

"He wants to play," Borris said.

After speaking with the Los Angeles Angels during his annual tour of spring-training camps, union head Donald Fehr said his staff will examine possible collusion against Bonds and others.

1. Thats nonsense
An employer doesn't hire a person of dubious character and the union gets its panties in a wad. Pure bullshit. Bonds has done enough damage to the game. He should have his trial then go away. Far, far away.

11. Are you sure you want to be admitting what you're
doing to yourself, while watching Mike Schmidt videos, in front of everyone in the sports forum?

And by the way, you have old VHS's of Mike Schmidt....the VCR is what you watch them on to mastur----, apparently.

LOL!!!

Oh BOSS, I love teasing you.

12. there's your answer then
'collective' if the owners know something the Union doesn't about Bonds, that's called collusion and is banned by the CBA. they can't all agree not to hire someone (and you are seriously thinking that not on team could use the best hitter in baseball as a DH? not one? for a couple of million bucks? he'd sell that in tickets alone)

5. Maybe, but that's up to the teams.
They have all the right in the world not to hire him if they don't want to. If we could force people to hire us I'd be Hugh Hefner's aide de camp.

16. He's not the same without steroids
Steroids allowed him to avoid injuries at his old age. Now he won't have that luxury. And his homerun capability has diminished considerably for this reason.
