Vitale Inducted into College Basketball HOF

My distaste for this man's work knows no bounds. By all accounts, he's a decent man who has brought a lot of excitement to the game.

However, the guy is a terrible analyst. Give me cranky Billy Packer any day over Dickie V's hyperbole and lack of substance. I know Packer is probably an asshole, but he gives astute commentary and is typically on the mark.

I get sick and tired of hearing Vitale defend some marginal coach who's missed the tournament for 5 years, and hearing him say that he's great and doesn't deserve to be fired. He must be crushed that his beloved Coach K has been knocked out of the tourney early two years in a row.

Dick Vitale, in his 29th season as an ESPN college basketball analyst, was selected for induction into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2008 as a contributor to the sport. The announcement was made Sunday in San Antonio, site of the NCAA Final Four, by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation.

The induction ceremonies will be held Nov. 23 at the College Basketball Experience and Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo.

"I can't begin to describe how honored I am to be included with the greatest minds and athletes of this sport," said Vitale. "College basketball has given me a life I didn't dream was possible. After nearly 30 years at ESPN I still can't believe I'm getting paid to be a part of this game I love. I just wish my mom and dad were here to share in this accomplishment with me."

2. If this helps get him off live broadcasts... I'm all for it....

Nothing is worse than your team's broadcast having this screaming, yelling jackass as an analyst. I read a website once that listed all the things this jerk talked about unrelated to the game. It was nearly 120 subjects. And has this buffoon .... EVER... one time.... told you how many team fouls each team has?

Get gone, Dickie jackass.
