Police cars burned, stores looted in Montreal hockey riot
Police say 16 people have been arrested after riotous celebrations swept through downtown Montreal late Monday night, leaving a trail of burned police cars and vandalized shops.

Thousands rushed to the streets for initially peaceful celebrations following the Montreal Canadiens' seventh-game win over the Boston Bruins, which advances Montreal to the next round of the NHL playoffs.

The jubilation degenerated into mayhem around midnight, however, as some hockey fans turned violent.

Hard to believe two things;

1 - That these idiots would riot because they won round ONE.

2 - That the police were as unprepared as they were considering Montreal's history of idiocy after wins.

10. I doubt it.
Habs fans are used to losing, as this is the first time in a long time that the team is able to do anything right.

5. Just for that, I'm rooting for the Penguins...
Not only am I offended by Canadiens fans rioting after winning the first round of the playoffs, that obnoxious Euro-Soccer song "ole ole ole ole" song bugs me to no end as well. What ever happened to "Go Habs Go!"?

11. Go Habs go is still around.
But a lot of us prefer the ohé song (we usually only pronounce the "o" and the "é" for some reason. It's fun to sing it. :)

16. It is in Montreal.
I think it's enough of a hockey town to make it a hockey song. :D

22. I know its a soccer song.
We just like it here in Québec. Hell, we sing it at rock concerts. We also sing it at hockey games.

17. They've sucked balls for 15 years now.
So while it's nice to know they won 24 Staley Cups, fifteen years is a long time to wait for anything good to happen.

8. Say what you will about Yankees fan, they wouldn't riot after winning the Division Series.
If Montreal goes on to win the next round, what will the fans burn? Actual police stations? If they win the Stanley Cup will they set all the strip clubs on fire?

For crying out loud, you're the most successful franchise in NHL history, act like you've been there.

13. This kind of thing will die down if they win later rounds.
The Habs have sucked balls for 15 years, so the minority of retards got really fucking excited, and this sutpidity was the result.

24. Pouring beer on a player's head while he's in the penalty box for
something he didn't do was a very classy start, I must say.

Go Flyers!
