How did that Shaq move work out for the Suns... |
|
...was that one of the biggest panic trades ever, or what?

2. (shrug) Like Charles said about another trade, they had to do something... |

... standing pat wasn't a viable option.

The Suns were eliminated from the playoffs by the Spurs. It seems the Shaq trade did not work. Many said Shaq was brought in to help stop Tim Duncan. However, Duncan was just about able to get all the points he wanted in the series. I am not sure Duncan had a game during this series in which he did not score in double figures.

5. Can't say I was rooting for Shaq after his low class comments |
|
Digs at the Heat and some of his former teammates, after being traded.
I go back and forth on Shaq. Sometimes I think he's a big puppy dog who thrills at controversy to keep his name in the limelight, other times I conclude he's a jerk who pains to massage his image toward endorsements and down the road opportunity once his basketball career is finished.
After the needless comments following the trade, I'm comfortably leaning toward the latter. In a Miami Herald article following the quotes, some anonymous Heat sources said the comments were representative of what Shaq is like behind the scenes.
On the court he's simply not active enough any more. He may have trimmed down and can get up and down the court reasonably well when necessary, but he's hardly a presence on both ends. Last night I frequently had to look for him, and that was never the case in his prime, or even two years ago when the Heat won the title.

7. Better than the Mav's trade for Kidd |
|
The Suns were a random 3 pt from Duncan away from a win in game 1, and 79% of the teams that win game 1 win a 7 game series. The Mav's got spanked in 5. The Kidd trade will wreck the Mavs franchise for several years!
