Anyone watch the NFL draft today??? |
|
Love all the hoopla with the first rounders, but love to watch them fall flat with all the $$$ in their pockets, and end up on a list of the biggest busts of the draft more.   case in point for the Packers.......Tony Mandrich. After he got off his college drugs, he just flattened out in the NFL, the biggest busts evah!!

1. I try to watch a bit every year. |
|
I did like this year, allowing just 10 minutes per pick rather than 15 in years past. Definitely kept the pace going much better.
I always intend to record the draft, because it would be hilarious to go back in 5-7 years to see all the hype on these players and find out which ones were hits and which ones were ridiculous misses.

2. The format today was much better.... |
|
...it kept it rolling along, thus the talking heads didn't have as much time to continually repeat themselves. They actually had some fresh observations, then had to move on to the next pick. Much better than it was in the past.

4. Agreed on the format, but they needed more criticism |

Kiper used to rip teams. What the hell happened? I saw some of the ESPNNEWS version with McShay and he was condemning some of the picks.
I want exploding GMs.
IMO, ESPN needs to pair Jaworski and Hoge, like the regular season. They break down players on film far superior to anyone else on TV, using specific examples of responsibility and result. The dissection of McFadden by Jaworski today was terrific, exactly what I've been posting on other sites , regarding his lack of lateral burst and elusiveness.
For some stupid reason, ESPN used Jaworski with Herbsreit, and Hoge on ESPNNEWS.
As a Canes/Dolphins fan, you gotta love the New York Football Giants. Today was like a minor league version of the Super Bowl upset and impact on the '72 Dolphins. The Canes had 13 consecutive years of at least one first round pick going into today, and the Giants extended it by taking Kenny Phillips with the final pick of round one.
It's going to end next year but what the hell, enjoy it for one more year, a la the Reebok Perfectville commercial with Mercury Morris.

The Giants are my new 2nd favorite team for sure. I think they got a steal with Kenny.

ESPN thinks they've got the market on everything football, but the NFL network is getting a lot better.
