Seattle Sounders Announce Jersey and Sponsor
http://gosounders.blogspot.com/

I kinda like it, and might need one, even as a DCU fan. The deal with XBox 360 is rumoured to be for $4m/yr for five years. good deal for the Sounders, good deal for MLS.

2. it's especially good to have some global brands investing
no big suprise that the local company investing in the Sounders is Microsoft, combine that with Red Bull (NY) Volkswagen (DC) and even BMO, and you have a higher profile than Amigo (Houston) Herbalife (LAG) Best Buy (Chicago) or Xando (RSL, I don't even know what that company does!) Glidden (Columbus). I know I'm missing someone...

but in the post 16 months, MLS has added a large chunk to the bottom line. now don't blow it all up in labor negotations next year, huh?

4. I'll start caring about what they're wearing
when the MLS starts producing some quality play. Until then, I'm much more interested in what Arsenal's new home kit looks like: http://youtube.com/watch?v=reZRDWW7y0k

6. please, you're comparing MLS to Arsenal?
Edited on Thu May-29-08 09:57 PM by northzax
it's not even close. But then I wager. Arsenal's payroll is roughly equivalent to MLS' in toto. I bet Arnse has a larger transfer budget this summer than MLS will spend this year. And yet, they have a bunch of third place showings for it!

8. No I'm not comparing
what I'm saying is I want to see some decent play, the major leagues so to speak. The MLS, in empty venues much of the time, is a complete bore after watching the EPL or La Liga. Until the quality of the MLS is improved, they'll continue to play before small audiences. There have been rumors that Henry wants to come to Seattle, moves like that would prove fruitful for what, right now, is a sad league.

As for Arsenal, they finished but 4 points behind Man U, they are one of the top sides in the world. They play some of the most entertaining football found anywhere. If not for a debatable PK call, or non call in the first leg, the Gunners would have gone through against Liverpool in the CL. They have a bright future and will contend once again this coming season. It looks like they will be getting Nasri from Marseille, Hleb and Fabregas want to stay and I have complete confidence in Wenger. A little shoring up of the back four, and you will see Arsenal hoisting a cup or two this coming year.

9. Actually some of the teams up north
draw large and loyal audiences.

Lots of people can appreciate super awesome footie from abroad, and still manage to somehow enjoy supporting their local teams.

10. everyone else is blue and green, why not?
The XBox logo is pretty garish, but I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I'm completely indifferent to soccer, but I'm very happy that those who do got their MLS team here. Heck, we may even try a game or two.
