Tigers collect 24 hits and advance to CWS

BATON ROUGE, La. --- LSU made sure its final game in the current Alex Box Stadium was a memorable one with a 21-7 victory over UC Irvine in the deciding game of the Baton Rouge Super Regional Monday night.

With the win, the Tigers, 48-17-1 overall, advance to the College World Series beginning this weekend in Omaha.

LSU, the national No. 7 seed, scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back, putting seven runs across in the fifth. The Tigers hit seven home runs in the game and Blake Dean went 5 for 5 with 3 RBIs. LSU's first inning included back-to-back-to-back home runs by Dean, Micah Gibbs and Matt Clark.

.....should be interestin'...it's a miracle year for LSU since their tie with Georgia...we won 23 straight games after that tie...mostly come from behind wins at that...it was lookin' pretty grim for us after UCI broke the longest winning streak in SEC history...but we came back from that loss in the bottom of the ninth inning in game two and then just rocked the HOUSE last night....whew...now on to Omaha...gotta LOVE IT!!! :hi:
