The Double Standard for Brett Favre
For years some football and sports fans have felt there was a double standard for Brett Favre. It seems that what is happening now proves that there is a double standard if that fact had not already been proven. Since it has been reported that Brett Favre was considering coming back to play football for at least one more season (it has since been confirmed that Favre has been training and has now asked the Packers to release him so he can attempt to play this upcoming season) I have heard a number of sports writers claiming the Packers would be fools to not allow Brett Favre to come back to the Packers and play at least one more season. These sports writers keep talking about how Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks of his time and maybe one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. That line of thinking is foolish to me. I contend Brett Favre is one of the most overrated quarterbacks in football. In addition, I contend that if any other quarterback's season would have ended the way Favre's season did sports writers would not be pushing for that quarterback to come back for another season. Sports writers are claiming that if the Packers do not bring Brett Favre back they stand a chance of not going to the NFC championship game. Is it really that beneficial for the Packers to go to the NFC championship and then lose the game because Brett Favre throws an unnecessary interception? I realize that my opinion does not count for much, but I think the Packers need to let Favre.

2. as a lifetime Lions fan...I HATE Favre........BUT
He has been a hell of a qb.
I understand Green Bay not wanting to go another round of *will he play* but that doesn't take away from what he did in his career.

I watched the man destroy my Lions more than once at the silverdome. Make no mistake, that man could play.

5. He's a great QB, but he's still selfish.
He waited until the Packers were already moving on with the Aaron Rodgers experiment to try to return. If I were Rodgers, and Favre somehow ends up back in a Packers jersey, I would request an immediate trade. As for their playoff hopes, they have a very solid defense, and enough good skill players on offense to contend, with or without Favre. It's not like the NFC is filled with world-beater teams or anything.

6. Being quarterback is kinda like being Prez. You have to be a bit of a bastard.
A selfish bastard.

FDR: Who? Me?
ER: I didn't say anything...now, move over and let me drive!
