Jeremy Shockey to Saints??
Heard on New Orleans radio this afternoon (monday) that the Giants have traded Shockey to the Saints for a couple of future draft choices.

1. Good Trade for the Saints
I think this is a good trade for the Saints. Shockey was always a pretty good player and now he may be trying to prove something to the Gaints. Wouldn't it be awesome if the Saints were able to knock the Gaints out of the playoffs. I expect the Saints home games to sellout if they have not already done so.

3. Saints
have been sold out for some time. Brees and Shockey should make a nice team.

One less drama queen headache for the football Giants.

They DID win all those road games and the Super Bowl last season as a TEAM, with young players.

4. Can Shockey get rid of his attitude and play up to his ability.
After seeing how the Giants played without him at the end of the season, it may be a good move for them. Have no idea how shockey will fit in with the saints.

5. Coach Peyton
is a pretty good disciplinarian and Drew Brees is a no nonsense team Captain. Don't know if I'm happy about this development since the Saints are fairly well loaded for this upcoming season. I think Jeremy would look real cute in a Cowboy uniform.

6. Do the Saints need a tight-end??
Won't see him in a cowboys uniform.

7. Dumb move by the Giants
Edited on Mon Jul-21-08 05:57 PM by Awsi Dooger
It's normal for fans to over react to a handful of outcomes and declare the team better without Shockey. Front offices are supposed to be more astute than that. You don't give up a special talent at that age. Ross is very limited.

The defense won those pivotal games, not the offense or TE position. The Giants never scored more than 24 points in the 4 post season games, and only 17 in the Super Bowl. You wonder what the summation would have been if New England had hit a few big plays and dismissed the Giants, 31-17. I guarantee there would have been some talk that they missed Shockey. That's the way these things work.

Besides, I've been to Giants camp many times in Albany and Shockey is by far the most fan-friendly player, staying to sign autographs for 20 to 30 minutes after every session, even two-a-days. No wonder half the fans of every age were sporting jersey #80. I hate to see that disappear.

10. I've seen how much Shockey means to that team
He'd make a play in a damn non-contact scrimmage and the team and bench and fans would erupt, unlike any other player. Sheer electricity and intensity. He'd run out every pattern even if the ball was severely off line. Shockey was literally the focus of that camp, every year. I'm convinced he contributed to the swagger attitude, whether he was there or not at the end of '07.

Maybe the injury was very serious, costing him explosiveness. I'm admittedly not taking that into account. If he's healthy or will be soon, the Giants blew it.
