UM at Florida, 8 P.M., ESPN
Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes ready for a prime-time football showcase

<snip>

"The Miami Hurricanes have confronted the swagger of Florida Gators wide receiver Louis Murphy -- ''U stands for university, and we're the real university'' -- every time they've approached their lockers this week.

Here's one for the Gator Nation, defiantly delivered in response by UM left tackle Jason Fox: "They're going to look pretty dumb when they come out and we stick it to them."

The war of words will morph into the game of football at 8 p.m. Saturday, when the real fun begins at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. Surrounded by a capacity crowd of more than 90,000 bleacher-stomping, Gator-chomping fanatics, the fifth-ranked Gators and the unranked Hurricanes will meet for the 54th time since 1938 -- and the first time since 2004.

This one will be on ESPN, with the College GameDay crew in tow.

"At night, I can't sleep," UM tight end Dedrick Epps said. "In meeting rooms, I get jitters. I'm amped. I'm ready."

Fueled by the star power of Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, the return of heralded receiver Percy Harvin and a lightning-fast cast of playmakers, the Gators are equally revved. UF has lost its past six games to Miami since 1986, but these supercharged Gators are favored by 22 ½ points.

"They picked the Giants to lose the Super Bowl," UM center Xavier Shannon said when asked if the point spread was a slap in the face.

2. Touchdown Gators. 6-0 pending the extra point. Now it's 7-0.

4. Miami's freshman are killing Tebow.
This team full of freshman are putting it to Tebow. If Miami loses, the Canes can still hold their head high and feel confident that tghey are on the right track.

Hey---we punked the Gators the last 6 times we played them and might do it again.

9. I graduated from Texas A&M.
You're welcome for the victory in two weeks. You guys will run circles around us. We're the slowest team I've ever seen. So, enjoy whipping our asses. :)

10. Hold your heads high Miami U'ers.........
you only lost to Florida by........... 23. LOL! This is what Miami has become.

Celebrating a close....3 TD loss. LOL! I guess upgrading your conference schedule and going 16-16 vs ACC teams isn't enough for you all.

And regarding your ........young team? Starting 4 Sr's on D. is young? Florida has ZERO Sr's on D. and only 3 on O. The 2 deep on UF is younger than Miami U and they went 9-4 in their '07 rebuilding year.

But congrats on that 140 yards total offense. I Don't recall ever seeing a team come to Florida Field and try to run out the clock from the very first play. I guess Lyin' Randy knew he had silly fans (like you, apparently) who would rather celebrate a 23 point.....close loss........ than actually try to................ win the game.

11. Only an idiot would deny that Miami is a young team
You actually make some valid points once in a while but it's more than negated by unnecessary overstatement. There's no doubt Miami erred by joining the ACC and leaving the Orange Bowl. Nix is a hopeless offensive coordinator.

But the talent level had plummeted under Coker and how is on the significant rebound. Technically some of those seniors start but they are quickly replaced by awesome talent like Sean Spence, who isn't a starter. Miami's two-deep is flooded with blue chip freshmen and sophomores. Everyone knew this Miami team would struggle. Plenty more losses ahead. But the addition of Bill Young as defensive coordinator is an incredible coup and next year's recruiting haul looks great, including a super blue chip running back in Bryce Brown.

12. Don't let Jack from Gatorland get your goat...
The guy is a lying fucking coward to chicken to admit that he's a chickenshit Gator fan. He tries to pretend he's Ivy League but he's about as Ivy League as a Redneck from Gainesville.

Awsi----you're way to polite for a puss Ant like jack.

13. Young defense? Started 4 Sr's with a 5th off the bench within minutes....
#96 DT Dixon Sr., #3 LB Cook Sr. #22 CB Johnson Sr., #26 Redick Sr.

That's 4 Sr starters. #94 DE Moncour was in the game very quickly. That's 5 Seniors who played mostly.

Then add the 4 Jr starters... Grant, McCarthy, Sharpton and Joseph and what do you have... on average to pretty mature group. Returning 7 starters on one side of the ball is about average. Any of those Jr's coming out early? If not, why not? Florida and Miami almost always lose a Jr. starter to The NFL.

Now let me show you a....YOUNG.... defense.....

Florida started ZERO seniors, 4 Jr.'s and 7 Soph.'s. That's young.... Now would you like me to give you the participation numbers on the non starters? Let me give you a hint.... Miami's non starting participants were no younger than Florida's. And Florida played several more players on D. than Miami did. And Florida held you "offense" to 140 total yards.

So only an idiot calls a team starting 4 or 5 Sr.'s... young, IMO.

And let me explain something else to you... Just because Musberger said The Miami U. was young... doesn't make it true. TV guys always try to pump up the weaker team. You should be getting used to being the weaker team by now being 16-16 in All ACC games over 4 seasons.

And does any UM'er blame Lyin' Randy for anything that happened while Coker was HC? Wasn't he the DC the whole time?

Lyin' Randy: "Coach Coker, can I recruit those good Florida High School defensive players?
Coker: No, Lyin' Randy, you must only recruit the girlie-boys I tell you to recruit.

Is that how it went down?

And congrats again for celebrating your 3 + TD loss. They day I do that with my team, is the day I die.

6. Gators have too much experience for the young Canes,,,
Again,

I love the freshman that have been recruited and feel good that the next couple of years will be fun to watch.

7. Canes are finally swarming with young talent again
Freshman OLB Sean Spence is awesome, agility and instincts. He made two phenomenal plays tonight and is already earning rave reviews on national college football message boards tonight. I mentioned him on this forum months ago, after I saw the spring game.

Believe it or not the offense has great young talent also, like Travis Benjamin and Aldarius Johnson. But Patrick Nix the offensive coordinator prefers a confused hybrid that seems reluctant to challenge downfield, or make the defense prove it can stop physical running plays. His style makes me sick. You can almost guarantee one possession will be nothing but shotgun, then the next possession is I-formation.

It was pretty funny when Meyer kicked a FG to cover the spread in the final 20 seconds.
